Buying previously owned but not used Sonar
Hello everyone, I need some advice. I have an offer to trade my digital recorder for Sonar Producer 8. The guy says that he has never registered the software. Is there any way that I can make sure that this is the case? Is there someway or somewhere that I can check out the serial number to make sure it hasn't been registered? I understand the EULA and I want to make sure that I don't go against it. Thanks! Moe

No it's not shrink wrapped. This was the first question that I asked. This is why I'm hoping to find a way to check the serial number to insure that it hasn't been registered. The guy says that it hasn't. But sometimes people will say anything.

Contact Cake. No one here can help unfortunately. While they may occasionally pass through here on the way to the VS 700 forum, they rarely stop by and they stop even less to discuss registrations.

Yes, I would ask Cake about it. See if he will give you the serial number to check it out. Of course, he may not want to - I wouldn't. Even if "he" isn't a registered owner it doesn't mean someone else is using the number. That being said, I sold a copy of Vegas since I had won it at a Sony affair but already had a copy. I opened it since I wanted the Boris Graffitti that came w/ it. I took a bath on it, so if the price is right ....
https://soundcloud.com/a-pleasure-dome http://www.bnoir-film.com/ there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

I'd say "Buyer Beware". If the price is too good to be true, its probably a scam. Keep in mind Sonar 8 is not the latest version. The current version is Sonar 8.5 and to upgrade your version of Sonar 8 to 8.5 will cost you $99. What was his reason for selling it? People usually don't buy something and then sell it without using it. At least, I don't.

Thanks for all of the help. The best that I can tell was that he ended up using Pro Tools in his band and didn't need the Sonar. I'm pretty sure that he's full of crap but I'm just trying to cover all of my bases before proceeding further.

Also, you need the Serial Number and the Product Registration Code to install it and register it.

Isn't it pretty much registered even before you get it installed?
