Buzzing when recording from line in

Hi, I have an audio track that is recorded from my line in.  While recording it plays fine through the speakers (so it's not a cable or anything), but when I playback it has a buzzing sound.  Increasing the buffer size to max helps a bit, but I still get some weird repeated clicking on track.  Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Just a few more details.  If I use Audacity to record, then it works fine, so it seems to be some kind of sonar setting that I'm just missing...  Thanks.

Seems to work if I change to the 32-bit MME drivers... any ideas why?

I have the same issue, Eye.

It's probably because you're likely using your onboard sound card and it can't process it in real time.

Eyehook, you must understand that we can't answer your questions properly without knowing anything about your gear, where did the signal come to the line in etc. We don't even know what software you are using and whether your OS is 64 or 32 bits.

@ExitNextRight yeah, I've come to the same conclusion.  I'm going to bite the bullet and check out some audio interfaces. :)

@Kalle good point, I'll post more thorough specs next time.
