CAL Program Question

Does any CAL expert out there know how I can programmatically determine a given track's properties such as bank, patch, volume, reverb, chorus, even channel since event channels often differ from track channel which can be confusing. To be clear, I'm not talking about track events for these parameters. I know how to handle those with CAL. I want to be able to create track events based on the current track settings. Yes I know that Automation Write enables you to do something like this manually one laborious track at a time [size=2 font="ms sans serif"]but you have to manually insert the patch event as a separate step.
I haven't upgraded in several years because of wonkiness with the versions I've had but if some new command language is featured in a more recent version or even improved support for CAL I'd drop the coinage if I thought it could make my life easier.
