CALL the DUMB Police! THIS Has to be a FELONY! IS there REALLY No Way To UN-STRETCH CLIPS?
I MUST BE DUMB -- 1) I decided to stretch some audio clips so they were shorter lengths (e.g. 97%, 96%). 2) After this, I decided I wanted the clips to be their original length. So I stretched them all back to 100%. 3) Unfortunately, stretching them back to 100% does not get them to "sound" like the original clips. They still get processed with the stretching algorithm and this causes the sound minor artifacting associated with this. SO my question is: How do I get rid of the "100%" so they just act like the normal, original, un-stretched clips? I do not want them processed with the stretching algorithm and its related distortion. I looked on the AudioSnap controls, and clip's menu when you right-click. Neither seemed to provide any clear solution.

It must be plain mathematics. If the tempo is 100 bpm, and you shrink it to 97% = 97 bpm, then it can't be stretched to 100 bpm by stretching it to 100%. After you have saved the project or done so many changes that you can not "Undo" anymore, the shrinked size of the clip is its "real" size, and 100% stretch-setting means the clip stays untouched. If you stretch the 97 bpm clip by 103,1 % it's tempo will be 100,007 bpm. I don't remember, though, if the stretch/shrink function has decimals.

Someone else may have a faster way to do this.. But try selecting the clip, then open the inspector on that track, go to the clip tab at the top, then to the audiosnap section and uncheck "Enable Stretch"

The Dumb Police are downstairs in the Coffee House. You're looking for them in the wrong place.

Heyyy! That's neat. I'm not at my DAW, so I can't test. Does that feature exist in older SONARs too - like 8.5? I never imagined the stretch-function could be reversed after a save or after the critical amount of changes. It did not even pop in my mind such a possibility exists. I feel old and simple :o/

garrigus Kalle Rantaaho Does that feature exist in older SONARs too - like 8.5? Yes, it's in 8.5 too. Right-click the clip and choose Clip Properties. Click the Audio Stretching tab and then remove the checkmark next to the Enable Time Stretching option. Scott -- Scott R.
