CAN'T PASTE!!

Trying to import some tracks I have saved on a removable USB drive into a new Sonar X1 project.

•  Open the new X1 project.
•  Open the old project.
•  Copy the tracks from start to finish in the old project.
•  Go to Window and select the new project.
•  Choose Edit | Paste Special.
•  No Dialog box comes up and nothing gets pasted.

Basically, it seems that Paste and Paste Special do not work when I am flipping back and forth from an old project to a new one.  This is a major catastrophe as I need to import a lot of old tracks to finish an album.

Ideas?

Try the 'Import Audio' function in the File Menu or drag from Windows Explorer. Hmm... but it seems I've gotten it to work the way you're trying it. Cntrl 'C' and Cntrl 'V'?

Just tried it. Selected a clip, hit cntrl 'C' Opened a new project cntrl 'V' and there it was - pasted fine. Don't know what's up.

Also tried it using the Edit>Copy and >Paste Special command - worked fine.

Are you selecting the track at the track header or the clip? Selecting the clip works here. AND selecting the Track Number (which selects the entire track and clips)

In this case, I am just trying to import MIDI data--so it should be pretty easy, but it isn't working.  Plus, opening the other (older) file messes up my MIDI devices--event though I am using the same ones.

i believe the clipboard is reset everytime you open or change projects, like humble says either import or copy just find them in explorer and open them up in the browser and drag n drop like i do

Thanks, but I am having all kinds of problems.

    1. Ever since I opened the old Sonar 2.2 file in X1, anytime I start X1, even before loading a file, I get a message that my MIDI devices aren't set-up correctly.
    2.  I used to routinely have two projects/songs open and I would cut and paste MIDI data from one to the other.  How else would one copy data?  I don't understand how Import or Browse applies.

    Thanks.

Well, importing by simply dragging and dropping from the browser is one of the nice simplifications Sonar has offered for several versions now.   But I think you mean that the MIDI data in your previous project doesn't exist as MIDI data on its own, it's all bound to the project.  So, import the entire project into your new project - you can do that now in X1.  From there, move tracks around, copy and paste if you want - it'll all be there in one project for you to mess with.
