CBX Driver Problem

Hi can anyone help me, I am at a loss here. Im currently trying to
hook up my cs1x to my PC to use with MIDI-OX and ultimately Cakewalk
Sonar. I am using a serial to 'To Host' cable, and have installed
the Yamaha CBX driver
(http://www.yamaha.co.uk/xg/html/software/s_serial.htm);

but in MIDI-OX I get a message saying that the driver is currently in
use? I just formatted my hard drive to try and solve this problem,
and MIDI-OX was the first program I installed, so how can this be???
(In Cakewalk it tells me I have not selected any MIDI inputs, even
when I have)

I have set the CBX driver as the MIDI synth in Sounds and Audio
Devices in the control panel also, but this does not work either.
When I try to play MIDI files they play, but I get no sound from
either the PC or the synth.

I have spent many many hours trying to fix this!

it looks like sonar has already grabbed your midi
input....hence the error in midi ox.

try it first without sonar running to see if midi ox sees it.

after that you can configure sonar to use the midi input.

Thanks, I have tried running cakewalk without MIDI-OX running and vice-versa, but the same happens. I've used several different COM ports, and the same thing happens when using all of them.

I guess there is no solution here, maybe the CBX driver is just incompatible with my PC?

Have you checked that your comms ports are enabled and working in Windows?

What Operating System are you using?

How does the 'To Host' cable connect to your PC. Is it via a serial port?

Did the host cable come from Yamaha?

I have a Korg N1R, which has a 'To Host' port and the only cable I can get
to work, is one supplied by Korg. Perhaps Yamaha have a similar issue.

    Regards,
    Colin.

Well I recently bought a USB-Serial adapter (which wasn't cheap!) especially for this purpose. I installed the drivers and configured it and everyhing, so it should work, its set to COM2 as is the CBX driver

due to the instant-ness of this error message, I would assume that it is a driver problem, and not a connection problem? (the error message appears immediately), although yes it is a 3rd party cable

I guess I'll just have to buy a midi interface cable, but I really resent buying this stuff for nothing! Im a skint student!
