CC1 automation on midi tracks

I use CC1 midi automation more than any other automation. To me it seems as if the automation tools primarily are focused on Audio as opposed to midi. I created a Bakery Idea request, but no one even bothered even looking at, so I’m wondering if I’m missing something obvious.

Here’s what I’d like to do: Easily add CC1 automation to a midi track. Here’s an image from the Bakery Idea request:

Q: Does anyone know of a way to add CC1 midi automation to a midi track without clicking through MIDI ..., picking controller, etc.

Thanks for any guidance
Allan

Easiest way is to record it. Hit Rec and start wiggling your mod wheel.

But if that doesn't fit how you work, e.g. you prefer to add automation with precision using the mouse, then it's unavoidably 3 mouse clicks and pressing ENTER to get it done. Only 3, though, since CC1 is the default when you open the dialog.

It would be a nice enhancement, though, to be able to add your most-used CCs to the top-level menu like they've done for 7, 10, 91 and 93.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

That would be ideal. For orchestral libraries, midi CC1, CC2 and CC11 are the most common controls. 7,10,91. etc are really more audio than midi.

Thanks for your thoughts; I was fairly sure there was no way to get the common midi controls listed in the menu.

One possible solution would be a programmable keyboard. It'll let you assign pretty much any key sequence to a function key, so that even long commands are reduced to a single keystroke.
