Frankly, I really loved this song. I think the singer is really good and fun to listen to. I think this is one of those genre's that really never had much legs just because it's very 'performance' oriented, but I think the thing sounded great.

Hey Carl neat song, playing and production.  If your looking for crits the only one I have is the piano was mixed too loud.  Did you consider an organ sound for this tune?  I think it might be neat.
I enjoyed the song, nice job.  I agree the vox sound similar to Steven Tyler

Great job. Nice tune. Nice vocals. The backing tracks overpower the vocal just a little near the end of the song (things get pretty busy there). I'm not sure I'd change it though. If I were arranging this song, I might try to do something a bit different with the piano track (R channel) that was more repetative and in the feel of the two bar rhythm section established by the bass and doubling guitar (at least for some part of the verses anyway). It might help to reinforce the nice groove you've got going there.

Thanks for the all feedback, appreciate your comments.

There's a new mix up, very slight difference, lowered the piano a bit & a few things to help keep the vox clear in that last mid 4 section.
Trying a new drum mix setup too so hopefully it's not too out of whack with the previous mix.

Great suggestions about adding additional piano & organ parts too.
If I have time I will certainly try a few things out & post it.

    again, thanx

Hey, I really dug this.  Sorta' reminded me of the old Stevie Wonder stuff which I liked very much.  Great groove, neat bass line and a really good job on the vox.  I felt the guitar had maybe a bit too much reverb on it, but that could be a matter of taste.  Really enjoyed the listen.

    Thanks philz,

The guitar reverb I think you're talking was all printed so it can't changed.
There's a different version mix up now & will redo a few more things before I wrap this one up.

Thanks for your constructive criticism, appreciate it.

    Tasty.
Funny how our influences affect what we hear. I don't hear Steven Tyler at all, but I do hear a blend of Leon Russell, Dr. John, and Axel Rose.
    That's not a bad thing.
I didn't hear the earlier version(s), but this sounds good.
The bas in particular is strong and punchy, but not boomy. That's a critical element for this style, and it sits well, providing a solid backbone for the song. Guitars, vox, and harmonica drop right into place, and the whole thing has a very natural feel to it.
    Nicely done.

    RobertB,

It is interesting how our musical influences influences our perception of what others sound like.
I never compared him to any of these artists but after hearing the names mentioned I can kind relate why.

Thanks for the mix comments, 'natural feel' made my day!

Cool song and a neat groove. That harmonica sound reminded me of Julian Lennon's song Much to Late for Goodbye with Jean "Toots" Thielemans on harmonica. Everything in the mix sounds great except that harmonica sound, it's a bit high and loud. I really like the song and the feel. Good work.

    octoberroad,

Toots is the man!  That simple harmonica hook was kind of a reference to him & the initial idea I used in writing the tune.

I uploaded a new mix with the harmonica eq'd slightly & used a different comp. Not too much different, slightly back in the mix from the other version.

    thanks for your comments.
