CME Xkey air keyboard... bluetooth MIDI & Cakewalk question.

Hi Fellows.
I had been using CME X-key air bluetooth keyboard for past year or so. My hopes were that when Windows 10 anniversary update comes out, I would be able to connect this bluetooth keyboard natively, without using their proprietary BT dongle....
The keyboard by itself is a fantastic piece of fun, but their customer support... well to put it in politically correct phrase "not that great". When people asked CME tech, why the keyboard does not connect natively, the reply was:

"Hi all, the Windows DAW softwares need to update their MIDI API to the new one for including Bluetooth MIDI protocol, without this support, it is not possible to use Bluetooth MIDI controller with them directly."

Can somebody translate this to plain language please? Keyboard is not pairing with on board BT of PC, just through their dongle.
What DAW has to do with it?

Last time I wrote to CME, it took them 5 weeks to reply. Seems like they have other things on their minds... Hoping someone here can shine a light on this.

Thank you.

I do not have BT MIDI devices, but there are claims they can work with UWP capable application only. So applications which use old API (mostly MME) can not work with them.
The good news for you - Sonar/CbB support UWP: in preferences / MIDI /playback and recording switch from MME to UWP.
Not so good - I have not seen success reports (with BT LE MIDI) so far.

I have the Korg Nanokey Studio Bluetooth MIDI keyboard and it works fine with Cakewalk in UWP mode.

    Guys, thank you for trying!
    Azslow, I tried UWP.
Nope.. Midi BL LE of CME X-key is no go natively, only with Dongle.

Noel, Korg Nanokey Studio is a different animal, I have read that it connects properly...

It is a shame for CME. Such a nice solid hardware and they failed on software part. Works amazing when wired or with their proprietary dongle. Maybe one day...

I have a CME xkey, USB only, and it is very cool.  Hope you get the BT working!
