COSM Guitar Effects

The COSM guitar effects can only be used when the V-Studio 20 is the main sound card, correct?  For example, if I'm using my Roland Quad-Capture as the sound card and the V-Studio 20 as only a midi controller, the COSM effects are not accessible.  Right?

    this is a good question and ive never tried it.
    but seeing as the editor controls the cosm effects and the drivers are a totally different set up.
    it may be possible.

    have you tried to set it up ?
