CWAF Stopped Working in Windows 10

Running SPLAT on Windows 10 Home. For some reason, the CWAF tool now crashes every time I run it. I've tried running it as Administrator and running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Didn't help. Has anybody run into this problem and found a solution?

I know how to work around the problem by saving project files to a new location, but it would be nice to be able to use the tool the way it was intended. By the way, Clean Audio Folder crashes too, which is why I was trying to use CWAF.

Thanks.

As CWAF is a separate tool that is run outside of SONAR, can you find any error message mention cwaftool.exe in the Windows event viewer?  It just might be a Microsoft C++ Runtime Library problem. If so, maybe a repair from the list of installed programs might do the trick?

    Try these:

Check to see if antivirus is getting on the way.
Run chkdsk on your hard drive.
Make sure windows update is fully up to date.
    Otherwise reinstall Sonar.

Thanks for the replies. The hard drive reports OK. All Windows updates installed. I tried running CWAF with antivirus disabled and it ran considerably longer but still crashed before completion. The event list shows the error with exception code 0xc0000409. I'm not technical enough to dig much deeper than that, but will research some more when I get time. . . .

Technically this is a buffer (windows) error.  Typically, related to C++ libraries.  As suggested, the simplest thing to try would be to re-install Sonar.

Also, any .NET framework updates (by other applications/windows, etc.) could have an effect - though sonar doesn't implicitly use them -  as they could have overwritten shared libraries.

    Good luck

A rack of noisemakers is not a definitive substitute for creativity. (though it does seem to help)

Funny, I was just looking this morning at the list of installed apps on my PC -- 15 separate installations of Visual C++ Redistributables! There are various packages with dates going back to 2005. It's a mystery to me why I would need all those versions.

Anyway, if I do decide to reinstall SONAR, do I need to do an uninstall first? How extensive? There are lots of separate pieces involved.

Check my previous post. I suggest you do this in order (reinstall Sonar last). Check to see if your issue is resolved after each step. Google for more detailed steps.

When running Windows update make sure you do it several times until there is nothing left to install (Inc optional updates).
