CWB - What did I do wrong?

I saved my Production Project as a (CWB) bundle on my USB external 1 TB Toshiba hard drive and tried to open it using my Post Production box and it would not open it. Can someone please tell me what I did wrong? I thought that was the purpose of saving as a bundle all files were supposed to be linked/associated with the CWB project. My Production box is a Windows Vista Dell laptop running X1b and my Post Production box is a Windows 7 Dell laptop running X1b. Both laptops can read from the hard drive and both can run X1b successfully. The Win 7 laptop doesn’t seem to be able to read a CWB that was created by Windows Vista. It just can’t open it. How can I ensure that music/audio I have created on the Vista box can all be opened from the Windows 7 box in preparation for recording audio/vocals? Thanks for your help.

Have you verified the Vista machine can open it?

If you have any audio snap files in the CWB that could cause it not to be readable. Also V-Vocal is not supported in a CWB file.

At least that is what I understand. I could be very wrong.

John, SONAR will prompt you if you have Audio Snap enabled on a clip when you try to save it (plus the Bundle option will grayed-out). So Bmack can rule that out.

Bmack, open the file up on your Vista machine and make sure all the files in the project are the same bit depth. There have been issues where bundles created in XP & Vista with different bit depths in the same project can cause problems.

This may be the source of your problem, but I also could be very wrong.

Not supported, perhaps, but still should work.  Evefry few times I save, I save as a CWB, and vvocal comes back fine.

Cakewalk bundles are notorious for causing problems. Scott's book even mentions this.  After my first lost project using a bundle, I stopped using them..

    +1

Plus the fact that there doesn't seem anything gained by using bundles.

I normally save the finished project to a new folder which takes all the relevant audio with it and puts it in a sub-folder it leaves any accumulated dross behind, then any notes lyric and support material goes in the folder too then I zip/rar the whole thing up.  The space savings are phenomenal compared to a bundle.

Thanks Everyone for the help!  So I can simply wait until I am finished and save my project to a new folder and all the associated files will be in that new folder?

Yes, as long as you have set the project up to have its own audio file as a sub-folder in the project file.  It's really the only way to go.  The Bundle concept was never very good, and should've been scrapped years ago.

Have you manually set the sample rate on the Laptop's Audio interface to match what the project was done in.  I ran into a similar problem sending a file to my son. His Audio interface adjusts automatically to project sample rate but this did not work for the CWB file.  When he changed the rate manually and rebooted everything worked fine.  May be worth giving that a go.
