CWBRN-40067 - Cannot delete soft synth under certain conditions
This is a weird scenario I've reproduced by accident. Bit of a weird use case but anyway this happens.. STEPS 1) New project with blank template. 2) Open browser click plugin tab/ 3) Add a softsynth (I used DimPro). MAKE SURE in insert soft synth properties everything is unticked. You should now have a synth in the browser and NO audio tracks. 4) Add an audio track. 5) In the input dropdown of the audio track populate it with Dimension Pro (stereo). OBSERVE NOW THERE IS NOTHING IN THE FX BIN. 6) In the FX Bin of that audio track add another Dim Pro soft synth. 7) Attempt to delete the second instance of Dimension Pro in the synth rack. EXPECTED It deletes ACTUAL Won't delete. You can delete it from FX bin however. ---- I'm trying to reproduce another bug that's a little more serious than this, but this is a start. Ipswitch update 1

This came up recently in another thread, but the behavior is not new. You can't delete a synth from the rack that's been inserted in an FX bin. I think this is working as designed. The synth object actually resides in the FX bin; what you see in the rack is basically just a link to the GUI. Here's the thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com...k-Solved-m3286211.aspx

Can't see how it's by design. Firstly where you choose to delete should not matter. Secondly if it should not be deleted for some reason (I can't see a reason right now) then a delete option that does nothing should not be given or a dialogue stating the reason why it can't be deleted. Delete = Delete in a UI.
Appreciate the comment though..

sonar still treats fx and synths differently it would seem, in which case it would be by design btw, why are you posting under different account names?

Ah I see. So when a delete option is available and you click it, and nothing happens at all under certain conditions that's a desirable behaviour obviously ;) Care to explain why it is treated differently btw? I'm not assuming anything btw.

If you don't know (as I don't know) we can't assume it is by design or not.
Certainly however the delete behaviour itself isn't by design for sure, if it should not be deleted for some reason (and we don't know that) the behaviour should change (see above).

maybe if you insert it in the fx bin it shouldn't be shown in the synth rack?
