CWBRN-53790 Track height not being saved

The track height I am setting is not being saved in my projects. When I close and reopen a project it is back to it's default height. This only seems true for tracks in folders - if a track is not in a folder it retains the set height.

The bus pane also resets itself to it's default height when closing and reopening a project. Anyone else seeing this? Thanks.

just had a similar answer for someone else.
you using screensets ? if they are locked they will save your track height in per screentset view.

Thanks for the reply chuckebaby. I don't have a need for screensets, using D for the multidock does the job for me.

I keep all my tracks in folders by instrument, and set the track height so I can see the input/output when I maximize a track. I also set the bus pane height according to how many buses there are, so when I bring up the bus pane I can see a list of all the buses in the project. These settings have been saved in my projects in the past.

For the heck of it I tried using a screenset but that doesn't work as needed either. If I set the height of a track and bus pane then lock the screenset it will only save the change if the track/bus pane is maximized when closing the project. If either is minimized when closing the project, they revert to their default size.

Tried to reproduce here, but couldn't. Which flavor of SONAR are you using?

Also, even if you don't use screensets, it's possible that one became locked accidentally. Check the Screenset drop-down menu in the Control Bar to verify that nothing is locked.

that is exactly what I was thinking.

Thanks for trying to reproduce it. What I described is the behavior on both my laptop and desktop which are both Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Laptop is Platinum 2016.06, desktop is Platinum 2016.05.

Here are the most basic steps to reproduce. If you could, please try the steps and let me know the result on your system.

    -Create a new project
    -Insert a new track folder
    -Insert a new audio track
-Drag the audio track into the folder

-Click the arrow on the track to maximize/expand the track
-Resize the track height by dragging it's bottom border
-Click the arrow on the track to minimize/close the track

    -Save the project
    -Close the project
    -Open the project

-Click the arrow on the track to maximize/expand the track

Does it retain the height you set or does it revert to it's default?

Is it possible to lock a screenset using a keyboard shortcut? Otherwise I am not sure how I could accidentally lock one. I keep that control bar module collapsed and out of the way, although I have looked at it in response to the questions and found nothing locked.

    Thanks

Hi, I just followed your steps and could confirm the issue (I created the project from the Basic project template). I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (SPlat is 2016.06). I recommend reporting the issue via Problem Reporter.

Okay, what I bolded wasn't clear from your original post. So when I saved with, for example, a minimized track, it returned as minimized when I opened the project, and all track characteristics at the time of saving the project returned when opening the project. So it seems SONAR doesn't remember an operation that occurred prior to the last operation that occurred before saving.

There's a number of variables that can be considered so I broke it down to try to make it more clear. Thanks for helping and checking it out!

The same is true for the Bus pane size - a minor issue perhaps but it affects my specific workflow. The settings do seem to persist through a session so maybe I'll perform a little "setup" after opening a project for now.

Try using screensets and see if they can solve all (or at least part) of your problem.

Tried that (see post 3) - same behavior.

My observation is that when you open a project, any minimized tracks that are in folders will open in their default size despite any adjustments that were made. The adjustments will persist until you close and reopen the project.

This is also true with other elements such as the bus pane height.

    Bump

Summary: In the track view, track (while in folders) and bus pane height is not being saved when they are minimized and the project is closed and reopened. Every time I open a project I have to reset the track and bus pane size to where I need it.

    What a pane....

I've not seen the issue originally described, but it may have been rendered moot by the introduction of Lenses. Track heights and pane visibility/sizing are saved with Lenses.

    SONAR Platinum x64, 2x MOTU 2408/PCIe-424  (24-bit, 48kHz)

Hi brundlefly thanks for the reply. I don't have a need for screensets or lenses although I can see how others may find those features useful. IMO, adjustments to things like track height and bus pane height should persist without the need to use either. If these adjustments are now expected to only be saved by using screensets (which I tried anyway but didn't work) or lenses, then I have to think about how I move forward.

Track height (while in folders) and bus pane height are saved if these items are maximized when the project is saved, closed, and reopened - but if minimized they will revert to the default.

I am still on 9/16 until I finish some projects but am interested to hear if others have a different result and what build they are on (maybe it's been addressed but not listed in the monthly fixes?)

The problem I had was about the same... all I had to do was save the lens before closing the project... I made my own now so after I mod UI I just save the lens and it stays when reopened. Hope that helps...

Thanks Passive Drift - I think I am going to send them an email to ask if I need to use lenses to make those adjustments persist.

funny you said that... it may be that I started playing with lens and did not understand that they don't shut down project to project... Now discovered that they can be tuned off... so I did... now splat seems normal... under lens option (upper right), select "Manage lens" then select (none). It seems right to me... but who knows... :)
