WHICH new version?? I don't see anywhere in this thread you've said you were using anything other than HS2002. it's very important to know what you're asking for help on.

you probably need a better soundcard - the x-fi is for gaming and dvd playback mainly. you could try ASIO4ALL and see if that helps any (it's a driver which uses the mme/wdm mode to simulate asio) if asio mode won't work for the x-fi - you have tried that, yeah? (sorry but it was late and i'd had a couple of beers last nite when i was replying!)

Vista Ultimate Playback Timing Master SoundBlaster X-Fi Record Timing Master Digital Input Device (can't change it though) Audio Driver 16 Sampling rate 44100 Driver Mode MME 32-Bit Output Speakers - X-Fi This says it all. You need to only have one sound card. Ditch the SB and get an audio sound card, because i dont think after 34 post, your going to figure it out soon or if ever at all. Why torture yourself. If you cant get it by now, youll never get it, and the card you have now sucks anyways. Your problem is that your recording and playback timing master are different. Get rid of the digital input device, get rid of the sound v blaster and leave these nice people to help someone else...34 post, just to hear sound, sounds like your having the laugh on them, if i didnt know any better Cj

Thanks for the response and most certainly makes sense. I ordered it with my new computer as I have a Sound Blaster with HS 2002 on my old XP which worked fine. Will most certainly take that into consideration.. Can you recommend one... I only use it to record fingerstyle acoustic guitar. Thank you very much for responding.

is it a desktop lars? pci is the cheapest option, then, but you need to be careful with having vista - the emu 0404 is cheap and great but only has beta vista drivers at present but they seem to ok. echo miamidi is fully vista-ready. usb you could get the m-audio fast track or edirol ua-25 or tascam us122l. how are you recording your acoustic, btw? you using a couple of condensor mikes? (you should be!) if so you'll need a pre-amp/mixer or one of the usb devices with 2 preamps built in like the ua-25. HTH Mark

yes it is a desktop. Just plug in and play. Thank you so much for your response and advice. I use a Fishman built-in dual source mic and pickup, blended. Playing a custom Martin fingerstyle. The sould is actually very good for what I am trying to do. If interested, http://www.putfile.com/larpup. Solo.. I am a just doing this as a hobby. This is not a professsional endeavor. Just want to purchase the correct sound board so I can hear thru two speakers while playing.... I program daily, databases, and handle 31 computers corp. but this stuff has been very frustrating as my time is limited... Just want to plug in, record, and add a little dry reverb.. That's it. Don't need additional equipment. So miamidi makes a sound card that will work? Is that what you recommend? Thank you again. I am amazed at the positive and helpful responses. Very much appreciated. Regards, Lar

Echo is the company to make the miamidi, their driver support is excellent. You could also look at Line 6 toneport UX1 or 2, which i cheap and good, allows you direct monitoring too, if you overdub. personally i'd get another cheap pencil condensor mike to use as well, this will give more air than your Fishman, but of course is more expense! (around £100) there are lots of options, depends on your budget, of course. oh, and your link didn't appear to contain any music???

Just checked web and says it only supports XP and 2000.... Need Vista..... Creative is supposed to support vista. It even gives advise how to configure ASIO on Cubasis...which I am not interested in. Willing to spend approx. $100.00 US + to resolve this problem.. whether it be a new board, or whatever.. Lar

I did have the tongue-sticking-out smiley in my note, but apparently he failed to see the humor. Oh well.
