Cabo - the first Geronimo Cowboys tune.

This is a tune I wrote in 2003 - the first tune I ever wrote. I did it with Mike Vlahakis. Mike and I wrote and recorded about 3 cd's worth of music under the name Geronimo Cowboys. I played guitar and programmed the drums on this one - Mike played bass guitar - wrote the lyrics and sang.

I'm putting this up because Mike and I are recording a new tune right now - first one in about two or three years - I thought before I put up a new tune I would get it started with something from a few years ago.

Thanks in advance for taking a listen.

Fun. Major points for originality and creative use of the sound field! Additional points for being utterly neglectful of Top 40 sensibilities.

Now let's go back in the time machine and turn the vocals up a tad!

well done, thanks for the share

Awesome! Really enjoyed hearing this. I can't quite put my finger on what to compare it to, which is natural when hearing things new to you I guess. There's so many different aspects going on I can't help but wanna keep hearing more.

Never heard this side of your music before Mark, I shouldn't be surprised, but this sounds really great to me! I don't mean to change the subject, but a few years ago I spoke to you about doing a collab, and I think the tune you sent me was called "Green Tea", LOL, A simple little tune with maybe 16 chords and multiple timing changes! LOL, I had to pass man, you are no doubt much more advanced than me. And extremely talented.

As for the mix, it sounded great on my new monitor speakers which allow me to hear more and better.

You should post more of these. It has a kinda raw feeling sound which I like best of all to it.

Thanks for sharing, enjoyed hearing this very much!!!!!!!!

Cool number!  It has a very raw, on-edge,artsy, punky feel to it.  Mike's vocals are great and of course your guitar work is superb.  I like that y'all are trying out different styles and I'd love to hear more like this.

Tom, thanks so much. I didn't mix or master this one - Mike did - he's pretty good. Appreciate you taking a listen.

Bobby - hi. This is more on my artsy-fartsy side - normally I'm a blues guy. But, when I collaborate with Mike - he brings my freak out. Thanks for taking the time - hope you're doing well.

    Scottybro - thanks.

Freddy - thank you brother - yea, this is a bit different - the new one we are doing should be kind of strange too - thanks for listening - take care.

    Beagle - thank you man.

What a strangely weird song.  You had to have been higher than a kite, and if you weren't, don't tell me.  Of course, this is my first listen to Alternative country...I'm impressed.

Nice to see you here Mark, I to am getting that Beefheart vibe, mix certainly come across well here, everything nicely defined in its own space.

Fabulous Mark. Mix and production really special (and I'm listening on crappy speakers).
I will listen again tonight in the studio

    What a strangely weird song.

    +1

But I listened all the way thru and very much enjoyed it.   The whole arrangement is just as bizarre!  Even basic things like those long feedback notes.  Or the instrumentation coming in and out.    Or the lyrics.   Or...
