CakeWalk SONAR X2 problems (BUGSSSsssssssss)
hello, I do not see anywhere a topic that speaks bugs referenced in Sonar X2. I do not know about you, but I have a lot of problems with this version, I can not mention them all so there. After version 8.5, X1 and X2 now, Cakewalk promised me that all these bugs would be fixed, my ass. It is really impossible to composing with this version today and I do not understand why the press and other media speak well. And you having problems with Sonar X2? Regards Marc

According to your last thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2597521 you are now a cubase user :) In that thread you incorrectly blame blue screen failures on Sonar, when in fact tech support told you, as will many members here, that BSOD are hardware or driver related..and NOT program related. If you have a problem, post a thread. be specific and show your system specs and someone will help you. if you have two problems, post two threads..get the idea?.. it is difficult to imagine that with almost zero posting history that you actually use Sonar, or that you bother to try to fix your problems.

I have yet to work on Cubase, and I must say that I have no major problems. Just this morning I started a project with X2, I just recorded a midi track, and no way to edit it. It's not much, but even that is not managed properly. I think the versions had a pretty varnishing against the problems remains. I've opened several cases to Cakewalk, is apparently known but it does not move. I'll make a video that brings all these problems can be done on that Cakewalk patches.

While there are bugs in X2 as there is any software, being impossible to edit MIDI isn't one of them. In fact it's simple double click clip and edit........... I suggest you read some of the tutorials in the manual and work your way through them. Learning how to use the software is something you'll have to do whether you use Sonar, Cubase, Pro tools, Reaper, Studio One or anything else for that matter.

I strongly suggest you lose your "blame" attitude if you wish to get help...99% of all issues posted here are resolved by other members explaining what the poster has done wrong. You can edit a midi track in track view by a) setting the view filter to "notes" instead of "clips" b) using the piano roll view c) using the event view editor there are tutorials at the beginning of the manual which will walk you through editing midi tracks..and trust me..this works just fine

It looks as if you are using a simple instrument track. Try using a normal MIDI track with a normal audio track. PS the PRV in your picture looks screwed up.

Simply zoom in on the PRV to correct the display so you can edit your midi data. Hopefully CW will have this fixed in the first update. That is not a show stopper, just a bit of an annoyance.

Your PRV is fully zoomed out, try zooming in using the zoom buttons in the bottom right hand corner or left click and drag in the top half of the timeline ruler in the PRV. I repeat, rather than frustrating yourself and blaming the software, learn how to use it properly by running through the tutorials in the manual (or buying yourself one of the excellent tuition videos available ). Whichever software you use you'll need to do that. It's a complex software program not a text editor..... i.e. there is a learning curve involved.

This happens to me as well unlike like 8.5 & X1. I hope it's fixed soon too. It's very annoying when you spend more time zooming in & out/ back & forth rather than actually editing.

I understand what you say, but it is not normal to begin to realize these operations to be able have a ease of issue. It's like, I add two notes and Sonar did not include in the loop, the Cakewalk support response is: this is normal, not for me. The loop must be completed, right?

yes, I think now they take us for idiots. Dan (Cakewalk Support) had predicted that this version was good, a little words from Dan, now this makes me smile: "I can assure that SONAR X2 is a superior program to SONAR X1. SONAR X1 was a premature leap into the realm of modern DAW's but since that leap we have made many adjustments in the past two years. Since this is a big release for us we want to keep a lot of the feature secretive so that the surprise is more effective upon it's release date. Thank you for your patience." But there would be some minor bugs, it's okay, no problem, all software have bugs, but this is like an old house full of cockroaches which was painted the outside to make it more beautiful. My words are harsh but it is reality.

ive filed about ten problem reports so far - real issues all. what i think youre seeing is cakes non-destructive midi editing. the nee two notes are added as separate clips so you can preserve the original data. select all the midi you want to loop and bounce to clips. then turn it into a groove clip and loop away.

well dude - why blame the software when you obviosuly dont look at a manual or dont even try the options that are given in the different windows. as a former strong critic of sonar 7 and 8 i have to say that x2 is pretty intuiitive and all opertaions are easily accessible from the relative windows cheers

what should bother "us" ? - if you dont know how to use it you cant blame the company... its not optimal to overly criticise a product while showing that there are big lacks of knowledge...besides the fact that you might also experience "real" bugs...

On a related note, the one time I tried to step record some MIDI data in X2, I noticed that when I entered a rest, Sonar started a new clip on the next note. So if you entered 10 notes with 3 rests between them, you'd end up with 4 separate clips. Is this normal? I found it very annoying.
