Cakewalk 2018.09 Build 25 fatal errors
After months of zero problems Cake has now crashed on startup several times since installing the latest update yesterday. VCRUNTIME140.dll seems to be the culprit.

Yes, me too. I haven't checked the logs yet. Multiple startups seem to get me past this.

Hi guys, Sorry for the inconvenience. Its a startup bug that seems to affect only some PC's. We're testing a hotfix for this as we speak and should release it soon, hopefully early tomorrow once it passes testing.

It's also causing problems with Melodyne. If I create a region FX since yesterday's update all I get in the Melodyne editor is a flat line ... this worked fine until the update, and it works fine in Splat... I've had issues with this product now since August. is there an easy way to go back to the July release?

Not if you didn't save it. You need to copy the cakewalk.exe that is downloaded to somewheres else for safe keeping. You copy it when the cakewalk installer starts asking I think, for the language. That's when it's all in. Been doing it since June but I'll bet were not allowed to share archives of the updates we might have saved.

I tested it with both Melodyne 4.1.1.011 and the latest 4.2.0.020 and no problems making melodyne clips in the latest version of CBB. Nothing has changed in that area of code in months so you are most likely seeing a different issue. Did you recently update your version of Melodyne? If you can send us a project that reproduces the issue we can look into it. We also have several testers using melodyne and nobody has reported this issue to us.

That's a bug I've reported to Celemony yesterday. 'Default Algorithm' selection is being ignored when I use Melodyne as a regional effect. Ulf agreed but said a fix will 'take a while'.

Thanks for the very quick response Noel. I had a crash and then other family issues came up, so just got back to Cakewalk. I installed the hotfix and everything is back to normal. Your team rocks.

I had a similar problem yesterday morning (Thursday) the first time I launched CbB for the day. It was an error but came from Cakewalk and asked me if I wanted to send a report. I opted not to but retired launching and had no problem the second time. I did the update this morning. All appears to me OK. John B.

What's funny is that I opened the same projects in my old Splat version and Melodyne worked just fine. I guess I'll be using Splat for awhile as long as it works there... Looks like it's Melodyne's issue Noel, thanks for responding. I honestly had no issue however until this last CbB update... this whole software update/incompatibility issue makes my head spin anymore... Skyline_UK That's a bug I've reported to Celemony yesterday. 'Default Algorithm' selection is being ignored when I use Melodyne as a regional effect. Ulf agreed but said a fix will 'take a while'.

Melodyne 4.2 is not working correctly for me either as it is out of sync and sometimes does not do the melodic procedure automatically when opening for my voice (one pitch to track). I sent Celemony a little video of the blobs not being in sync with the sound and they said I should totally uninstall both Sonar and Melodyne and reinstall them. Before going thru this lengthy process, I noticed the first update from Bandlab came 2? days ago and I installed it, and all of a sudden, Melodyne 4.2 worked. But a day later it is back to being out of sync. Today I installed apparently the BandLab "fix" to this problem but it still persists. Fortunately, Melodyne 4.1 still works perfectly so I'm sticking with it for now. This is the first real problem I've had in several years with both Sonar and Melodyne. Hopefully, they get it working soon but I don't really see many advantages of 4.2 for Sonar. The Melodyne update seems to be aimed at other DAWS. PS I think I've gone back and forth with 4.1 and 4.2 a dozen time in the last 2 days and, other than the first time I tried it with the most recent Sonar update, 4.2 has been out of sync.
