Cakewalk A500 vs M-Audio Axiom 49 Decisions decisions

Well I have been researching for the last couple of days and have narrowed it down to the M-Audio Axiom 49 or the Cakewalk A500. I currently have an M-Audio 88 key something or another, but I'm going to college next year so I need something smaller with more features. I'm currently using Sonar X1 producer and Ableton Live. Any input or suggestions would be great help!
Thanks

I think the newer Cakewalk controllers would provide a more seamless integration with Sonar (not sure about Ableton).

A few years back when I bought my Axiom 49 the sales rep tried to convince me to get the Roland controller (can't remember the models anymore) because I was using it with Sonar. I preferred the pads on the Axiom and the feel of the board itself which is why I went that route - but I also lost a lot of hair trying to get it to work seamlessly with Sonar

However you said you already use an 88 key M-Audio Controller. You already have a head start on how the M-Audio boards work. Although there are differences between the various models, they they are more similar than they are different.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!
