Looks like my set of Edirols. Kate, does this mean the Edirol brand name is going bye bye in favor of the Cakewalk brand name?

ha ha ha ha    the whole line is edirolinterfaces too) with a cute sticker
check out the edirol price before you buy theese!
I own the monitors and they are good, dont get me wrong, but this seems kinda like shady business, "lets see who we can fool" kinda thing.
I love cakewalk but come on!  how bout a link to the roland website and endorse them there as oposed to this. I could be overreacting but what else?

seriously why is cake going all usb?  if you want one of the interfaces get an fa-66 or fa-101 and be happy.(wrong thread on this I know) same company

the 15D series were my top choice before Roland branded them as Cakewalk monitors and advertised them on their homepage.  "Edirol" or "Cakewalk" they're the same monitors.  they are my top choice for studio monitors because they have a lot of features that other monitors leave out like up to 24-bit/192kHz, DA conversion and S/PDIF, optical connections.  I'm happy to see that they are now being promoted and that they now have their own spot light especially at this forum.

    Strummy,

Seems to me like you'll need to get a new set of Monitors, mate. You can send the Edirols to me. I'll be happy to give 'em a home till you need them next.

tell you what would be great....a matched sub for my MA-15's
since the "FAKE BASS" switch kida sucks  this would round out the sound
    (great monitors though)

How come no one put 2&2 together about GTP-4, being nothing more than SHS7 with a different label slapped on it?

I was looking at these after the announcement but they same to have vanished from Cake's product site (well, the link doesn't resolve anymore).

So I found the Edirol MA-15D equivalanet on amazon.co.uk for 139 quid.  Which seems a pretty good deal, and they'd compliment my CW/Edirol SPS-25 interface nicely.

Reviews on amazon are pretty good for these, and I see that Stummy uses them.  If I was buying at that budget level are they are good choice?

Given how cheap the rebranded products look to me, I am having to scratch my head at CW/Roland. Are they making equipment for serious musicians or not?

We are certainly trying! There's been a shuffling of products between different parts of the Roland family -- specifically from Edirol to Cakewalk, some are obvious, some may make you scratch your head. There are fun things in the works which "serious" musicians will appreciate, so stay tuned.

I thought seriously about buying these when they were under the Edirol flag.  My big problem is that in order to connect these to my audio interface, I'll have to use some sort of adapter in the chain.  Right now I'm considering going with the Alesis or Behringer line, because, in part, of the 1/4"/XLR jack.  There are several reviews out there that said the Edirol monitors were great, if you used the optical connection, but that they were shall we say less than great on the other connectors.

even akai made an 8" monitor set...

so who were the ma-15d's for?

its too bad that in my opinion, the best DAW on the planet is linked to some hardware that Id rather use logitec computer speakers and get a better freq response

check this out 1/4 bal out on edirol(cakewalk)interfaces(most)---rca in on ma-15's(spdif is good dont get me wrong) oh well

    Ben,

The MA-15D's are marketed for the entry level monitor market. In line with the offerings from M-Audio, Alesis, Samson etc. These aren't geared for a user who is looking for something in the Focal, JBL, or Genelec range. I think that was what Samara was alluding too.

We have these in the office and they are indeed a good little set of monitors. Remember that your Logitec speakers, while maybe having a better frequency response on paper, are probably a bit more colored and designed to make the music sound better. Subwoofer response on those systems is usually exaggerated for video games and movies. What you want is a very unflattering monitor.

But, you should always A/B your mix. That's the reason my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 is still setup at home.

    Best Regards,
    Seth

seth, I agree, although I dont have any other speakers in my setup....
see though this kind of thing makes me wonder
    I love sonar
    I love my mpc (akai)
what do they have in common ....................
joined with other large companies and started to release cheap crap.......with a
PRO daw why not pro speakers
look I can get speakers anywhere ......no problem , Im just wondering why cake tagged these
    instead of edirol
and with all the resources avail why settle for a cheap speaker.....the v studio pic in sweetwater gear catalog shows a roland spreker NOT theese on the page mirroring sp8.5!!!!!

this will be my last post on this subject cause really I dont care for less than 200 dollars
sure get em people but to me they do not represent cake (well at least not sonar)

I just purchased a V100 and a set of the MA-16D's.  How do you get sound to these guys?  I have the switch on the rear set up correctly.  Can plug in another source for sound and they are working.  I suppose this is a routing issue, but I'm new to Sonar and have no idea where to start.  Thank in advance for your help...
