Capitalism is the instrument of democracy. It allows people to chose by voting with their money. People that are anti-capitalism must not understand the linkage between capitalism, democracy and freedom of choice.

Read this book
Free To Choose

The next time you are upset about the price of gasoline, oil or something else that a cartel or monopoly is involved with, or the next time you choose an item on sale versus a full cost one, you are exercizing capitalism. It is an integral part of our lives in the US.

THis is not a pro-democrat or pro-republican philosophy. It is what America is founded on. Or was.

That is just pure garbage. There is no corelation between democracy and capitalism or freedom of choice. Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Spain were all capitalist but not very democratic. Much of Europe is quasi-socialist but still somehow deomcratic (and in some cases still maintaining a royalty?). The conflation of capitalism and democracy is really a relic of the cold war.
As with many other things we find that moderation is the key. We shouldnt rely on pure capitalism or pure socialism. But a flea pocked mongrel combination of the two.
Though as I get older I wish I lived in a country that didnt see healthcare as a profit center, but instead put it alongside other compulsory services such as fire and police.

As far as unfettered capitalism (the monotheistic god of Ann coulter) and TTS. You guys gotta take a look at the competition. Quite a lot of them are also owned outright by larger entities. I think TTS is just trying to remain competitive. thay cant go smaller (like reaper) so of course it makes sense to strngthen their ties to Roland. Just thank god its not Gibson! They break every company they buy!

PS I am shocked to see the "...by roland" logo on the Cakewalk homepage. When did this start?

Sonar 7.0.3, Mattel Synsonics, Motu 828MKII (BLA), TC-powercore, Stillwell plugins, Moog MG1, Korg Poly 800, DX27s, Moogerfooger Lowpass, Ovation Magnum, Stingray fretless, Mesa Bass 400, Waldorf Edition, DBA fuzz war, Summit 2BA221, etc

+1.

And actually, while that may have been intended as a throwaway joke, the principle absolutely applies.

Big corporations hate democracy.

In the 20's a general was getting money from Fruit corporations to get into Central American countries and other nasties that are to scary to think about.

In the US it's illegal for a corporation to do business with a nation in war with the US. Still IBM sold machines to adminstrate the halocaust (even knowing what they were for) and the drink Fanta was Coca colas tricky way to dodge this law and getting into the german market during the war.
Wolkswagen and many more big German corporations were built on jewish slave labour: and there are many modern examples of big corps in bed with Dictators.

The bottom line is that a corporation is forced in it's essence to make a profit. Following laws and moral values are always secondary. Profit is number one.

OK, can I please have from Cakewalk a Hammond C3 softsynth based on Rolands latest hardware Hammond clones, and then from Edirol/Roland, a proper Organ controller keyboard (waterfall keys, drawbars etc) that only costs a little more than a "synth" controller - and a connection protocol between the two that cannot get disabled or wrongly assigned (unlike USB)?

I'll buy that when they do it.

Jim

Yes, I know it's upside down.
