Cakewalk Express 8.04 & 64bit Windows 7

It's been years since visiting this forum and have no clue where to post this question, so I'll start here.

I own a copy of Cakewalk Express 8.04 which I received from purchasing a Delta audio interface card years ago. I love the little program, but it's now time to upgrade my pc and buy 64bit Windows 7.

So, my question is will Cakewalk Express 8.04 be compatible with 64bit Windows 7 PCs?

If not, what's the lowest end product that is similar to Express that would be compatible with 64bit Win7?

Thanks!

    Hi John

Even the lowest end Cakewalk product now Music Creator 5 will surpass the capabilities of Express by a long way and likely be less troublesome (as it is indeed Windows 7 capable) and easier to use on the new OS. And it's a snip at $35

    http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/MusicCreator/

Going up from there there is Home Studio, up to (for true 64bit operation) Sonar Studio then Sonar Pro.

It's down to budget and the capabilities you require.  Check the products page for prices and full details of each option.

So, I assume the answer is No. Express won't work on 64 bit architectures?

I'll check out the other software.
I just need something simple that will import wav files and allow me:
    - make quick edits or
    - to isolate left channel from right channel or move left channel audio to the right channel, etc

I don't know anyone who has tried it as it is about 10 years old now.

Failing that if you are just making audio edits like that maybe one of the freeware audio apps. like Audacity will do the job you require.
