The free guitar rig player is useless imo.. you will get more out IK multi-media amplitube 3, which also has a free version, and allows you to purchase a la carte from IK multi's custom shop... Here's a screen shot of custom shop on my computer..... this idea, this interface and technology are absolutely cool!! Ik is kicking NI's butt here... that said... Guitar rig $49 is an excellent deal.. if that is what you want, go for. guitar rig sounds really nice. no doubt there. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Yup, just upgraded. Can't pass on that price! Looking forward to playing with this one over the weekend :) I was actually almost happy with 4 LE as it was giving me better results than my Marshall amp as I'm mainly doing clean sounds these days. But having a lot more clean sounds to choose from is exciting. Woot woot. Hopefully there will be some nice crunchy distortion too that don't sound so old school. I don't like that generic distortion sound. I want something with a bit more low growl and a slightly more sparse top end. More open sounding. I know what I like, now just got to try and find it... I don't hear it that often...

Have both, but new to AmpliTube 3 (for $99). So far...and it has only been a few days, but I'm not liking AmpliTube that much. Not just the sound, but the way they setup the base version... some patches you don't have the components for. Not intuitive. All the "add-ons" are a SCAM IMO. If I want to just toggle and look for sounds that I like and inspire me, GR5 wins. Don't care how "cool" it may look and how many components I can buy. I'd rather pay a larger amount and have IT ALL at my disposal when I'm up @ 3am trying to find the right sound. My verdict is not final, but so far that $99 isn't well spent.

I just grabbed Amplitube 3 for $99 last week and I love it. I don't even play guitar. I have the free guitar rig player and its good for general fx but if you are a guitarist I don't see why you wouldn't love either depending on your needs.

Well, one thing I noticed... the dynamics are better with GR. If you have a nice heavy preset, play with your volume knob and you will notice that AmpliTube does not have the dynamics Guitar Rig does at different places on the volume knob . Which is pretty big, because I usually play with the volume knob on 8.

I wouldn't say LE is useless. If you have access to only one amp that is only okish, I think it provides some ok flexibility and very useable sounds. I also don't give a damn about if it sounds accurate or not. No average listener will know about that. What really matters is DOES IT SOUND GOOD??? Good and accurate are two potentially VERY different things. But ultimately for $50!?! Downloading now. 1 min left :D

I thought he was talking about the free guitar rig five player.. the guitar rig player is a little useless.. I've got that free player, I know all about it. Guitar Rig LE, that comes with Sonar is very good!!! I'm happy to have it. :-) Relax guys Edit = furthermore.. I quite like Guitar Rig LE, and I quite like Guitar Rig in General. Also like Kontakt and want to buy it for access to third party libraries... Unfortunately, I've kinda blown the software budget probably till later this summer, or end of summer when work picks up again... Besides, if I have any extra cash this month or next, its going to victims of the Colorado Batman Tragedy.. Cause I hate hearing stuff like that, and I've been way weepy over it...

metz I have GR version 4. Is it worth getting version 5? It didn't seem to have much new in it? /M Personally, I usually try to have the latest of everything, on the assumption that it is always "better." Not a good assumption I know, but that's just me. I have GR5, and I totally missed the fact that I could upgrade my LE version that came with Sonar. I'm new to amp modelling and effects, but I am liking what I hear so far. As well as using it with real guitar, I am also experimenting putting GR5 into the effects bin of Dim Pro instances, while using a so called guitar preset. Sounds okay... I am also trying out the AAS Strum instruments with GR5. I fancy having a go at making MIDI guitar sound as authentic as possible. Yes, I am a heathen monster...

i use both GR and Amplitube..and both are mind blowing. the options and control guitarist have now is amazing..and cheap!! even the LE versions have some smoking features, that would have cost you a $1000 10 yrs ago. i didnt want to believe it, cause i know what it took in the past to achieve a certain sound. and the truth of the matter...the software offers more tonal options, possibilities, and convenience than the hardware its modeled after. GR and Amplitube keeps getting better and better man..there is almost nowhere else for it to go.

But with the right EQ, the Rock Legends kick drum is my favourite among all the BFD2 kits i have, both stock and expansion. Thanks, Glenn. I appreciate the additional details. I recently purchased the Zildjian cymbal back so I'm all set for those. It includes a special "DV" version of Eco where all 12 pads are set to cymbals, but it's 32bit only and does not include any kits whatsoever. I also have EZ Drummer and Session Drummer 3, both without any add-ons. So from a drum perspective I figured $49 for the delivered Eco content and the expansion pack was a pretty good deal. It's good to know that you'd pick that kick over all the expansion packs. Edit: sorry for the off-topic BFD stuff. My choice really is/was between that and the GR5 upgrade, so it is sorta kinda started on topic.

Well, ain't I the smart one[NOT] I upgraded to Guitar Rig Pro 5"3weeks ago for 99 dollars + international transaction fee". At least I got the more or less the Full Amplitube 3 for 80 dollars yesterday[+ transaction fee...less with Amplitube for some reason?]. They both have their place, and yes I agree about the more dynamics with GR,whilst using the guitars volume knob. Anyway my recent upload on soundcloud "MY OWNT" was done completely with Guitar Rig P5,so if I'd waited,I may not have recorded anything, wether that's a bad thing I'm not sure? The other longish instrumental "DeBASSed",was done with a mixture of Guitar Rig 5 Player [cleanish stuff],but all the lead n heavier things were with my new Les Paul Studio[first real Left Hand Gibson in 25 years]and my ole faithfull Marshall 2203/4x25w Celestions, mic'ed with an SM58 copy[!],oh and it's called that,as I don't yet have a Bass Guitar[I used to,a thousand years ago,but thats another story!] Cheers All Bob

I don't currently have Guitar Rig from Sonar installed on my DAW. If I get the upgrade to the $49.50 special price one, will it give me the full version installation, or MUST I have the version from Sonar installed first. I can always go back to my X1 CD's and install Guitar Rig but I am hoping the update will work as a full installation as well. Peace
