Cakewalk Installation Question

Downloaded Cakewalk Sonar X1 Demo (about 600MB)
When I try to install it, it gives me a popup window to select language.
I select english, the window disappears and nothing happens.
No installation.

All, I recommend this person to give Cakewalk Sonar a try.

This is a legit post. He's not a troll.

He needs to provide a lot more information.  From the emails we've traded back and forth, he's running XP.  I advised SonarX1 requires a minimum of SP3 to run so can't say his hardware is up to spec.

The user wants to do staff notation from a keyboard or guitar-to-midi controller.  He's stated he doesn't need the production package.  Does Cakewalk offer a product that can do this and still support VST plugins?

Thanks Jumbicat, you already helped me a lot but I did not want to waste your time with windows/cakewalk issues, but I appreciate you helping out.

I now tried to install Cakewalk Sonar X1 on a laptop with all service packs and updates and today also a brand new clean XP installation on a Dell 2.8GHz PC with all updates and service packs applied. Result is the same.
Here is a screen video of what happens, boring but it shows what happens.
There is a flash .swf and an avi video for those that cannot view flash.
Usually a program would exit wit an error message to stdout, but Sonar seems to just crash silently.

I noticed a couple of things.

Turn off all anti-virus....that can kill a installation.

launch the setup as an administrator

Been tracking the UARS....I think it's finally down.

I was able to open and watch the 20 meg video in windows explorer but not mozilla.

Are you running a virus program?

    How much ram?

Once the virus software is disabled, can you capture the setup with task manager open? That might shed some light on what the executable is doing. It's possible, the download is corrupted.

I downloaded the software three times twice on two different machines and once from my Linux serer. They all behave the same so it could not have been corrupted in transit. Maybe the demo is corrupt to boot? Maybe someone can make an older spin available for me?
    Ram 2GB
Virus software was automatically installed with adobe flash.
    I removed it.
Result still the same, see Take2.avi or swf for the video with system processes shown.
avi is getting offensively big, I could view flash with free standalone flash viewers.

Also, in Unix you can see any error messages as it is logged up-down- and sideways in /var/log/messages or dmesg. Where do you find the system logs in windows?
If cakewalk was written correctly, all stdout should go there and the kernel will tell us how and why Cakewalk crashed.

There does not seem to be a trial version for Music Creator 6 or am I wrong?
I don't want to buy something that doesn't install.

I will try and call them today, it must be a known problem.
Pity there isn't a mac version available.

I have the same problem and was redownloading the files until I read this post. I put the question to the folks in the X1 forum. See if I get any response there. Usually not since 99% of members don't use the demos. Don't bother about the Virus software because my system doesn't even have one.

I had trouble with both Trials for S7 and S8 as well. They worked but certain features in them did not work right or at all and no one could come up with a reason. I think these trial files are less than workable models except when used on certain computers.
Also noticed your link is "invalid" according to IE8.

I downloaded the X1 demo, installed it on a XP os with out any issues.

I was surprised that the only vst provided was rapture lite.  I thought at least TTS-1 would be installed.

But I couldn't get the 20 meg file to play in Firefox, had to use IE.
