Cakewalk Installer

Cakewalk Inc. had such a great installer, why did Bandlab scrap it? With Cakewalk Command Center you had a couple of advantages compared to this crippled Bandlab installer. You could:
  • copy the downloaded files to a 2nd computer to avoid additional download times
  • update separate packages alone (not one single cluster, like that you could avoid problems like with the newest CbB version conflicting with TH3 and Breverb installation).
  • revert to an older version for each package.
  • clearly see what was happening during installation, what is installed, what versions are available.
Even if CbB is free, I really don't understand the reason for the regression!

The fewer things you can adjust during installation means fewer things to go wrong due to user error; which in means a lower support overhead  required.

That's my guess. I'm OK with it. The Cakewalk team is much smaller than it used to be. I'd rather they were working on improving the product than supporting it, if you know what i mean.
