Braidgirl:
you don't save chords, riffs and notes you play w/ a patch. You record them as midi (or audio) to the timeline. Midi is just digital info saying hit this note this hard at this time. A patch is a sound on a synth - that may sound like a piano or cello or guitar. It is saved w/ the synth and is usually choosen from a drop down menu. Audio would usually be an external synth (after choosing the patch) that you play and record its output, just like a voice or guitar.
I'm not sure what pre-recorded chords means. If you are talking about midi loops (which ""play" an internal softsynth) you simply drop and drag them into the Midi track on the timeline. If you are talking about stuff you've recorded and you want to extend it - say a four bar riff, you can copy and past it to 12 bars. Just like typing and cutting and pasting. Just like typing and cutting and pasting. Just like typing and cutting and pasting.
This is pretty basic stuff, so read the manual and play w/ the software. And don't be afraid to ask.
Crossier,
you need to figure out how to start a new thread. there is a button at the top left of the forum for new thread. I don't know Music Creator but I'm pretty sure it includes Cake's standard vst wrapper and will play synths using that convention.
1st thing you should do is to poke around cakes site. There are two free synths - SFZ and triangle. SFZ is a soundfont sample player and you can find lots of soundfonts on the web. Triangle is a simple synth.
Then go to ugoaudio.com. He has four electronic sounding synths for free. He also has a couple of cheap (price wise) synths and a drum synth if you like his sound.
Then KRV.com. Users and developers (including Ugo) hang out there and there is a compliation of free synths along w/ comments about them.
Between those places you can get enough synths to start. good hunting.
