Cakewalk (Lame) MP3 encoder

so with the $25 voucher, one item I went for was getting the mp3 encoder activated, since I always went outside of Sonar to make MP3 files...which I do quite a bit, btw.  Thought it would just save a step and after using it, see it has the available adjustable settings, that I'd think would be pretty much all you'd need.

However it seems as of recent there have been some negatives or people not liking the available Lame encoder. (VBR not showing true file time lengths, etc). I thought it worked fine for the few times I've used it so far, but was wondering what others really thought of it ...especially as compared to taking the extra step to use another program instead.  (In the past I had used Adobe Audition, and then recently Sound Forge...but now hope to just use Sonar).

i've had it for years and like the fact that I can render mp3s right in X3.  I had some issues with it dropping out but read something about increasing a buffer, which i need to do.  I'd also like to know how to replace the lame file since i've had this for a while and they update the file occasionally.  Quality has bee as good as outside progs, IMO.

I have used the Cakewalk one for over 2 wives now (meaning it has outlasted both of them).

There are free ones, and some better and some worse, but I have been happy with the one I bought for either $19 or $20 some time ago.

Oh - I have no meters running on any new wives - they were gotten rid of on clearance (actually, it might have been ME that was gotten rid of, HEY!).  Hee hee

I've had one wife leave me and always suspected it was jealousy of spending so much time with the Cake unit.  I thought it was a "lame" excuse but I'm soooooo much happier flying solo now...

So if I buy the encoder, my wife will be OK with that girlfriend I've always wanted?
