Cakewalk + Magic 8-Bit Plugin
Alright, so I have Cakewalk Music Creator 3, and I have two questions... 1. I installed YMCK's Magic 8-bit plugin, it recognized it along with my other VST's but I don't know how to open/use it. 2. I have a fairly decent selection of instruments, except bass (mainly drum sounds), and they all kinda suck. Also, this is MIDI bass, so my guess is that it would probably be better to import some audio like .wav or .mp3 bass/drum sounds? Basically, how do I get good sounding drums? I can't find any instruments, or is there any techniques to make non-drum instruments sound like drums?

You guys are funny. Now I know I'll like this forum. Windows XP SP2, Media Center Edition, Creative SB X-Fi (I guess, for sound, maybe) Not sure what I have exactly, it's a store bought PC, from Dell XPS 400. Umm, really just wante dto see if I can download any drum sound packs or something lol. EDIT: The plugin is a VSTi, and it can produce 8-bit sounds, like an old gameboy. Let me find the link here...... ... Linky

Kind of like ... Iggy Pop(per) From their web site I found that this runs with VSTi supporting applications like Cubase. So I guess it runs as a VST plugin. Like the drum plugin in mentioned above. -- TAP --

Iggy, there are lots of drums to be had, google free acid loops, look at the link i supplied above, it has a free drum synth, and a key code to install, also go to rayzoon.com and demo the jamstix program.

Wow thanks, a whole bunch. Also, Lol @ TAP Iggy wasn't so original, so I decided to add more to it.

Well welcome aboard, and i hope all works out. One thing to remember not all plugins work with all DAWs. Every program i have tried has struggled with one plugin or another. When i find a problematic one i move on, unless it is a biggie then i whine a bit. If you think about it, there are thousands of possible computer setups, thousands of plugins and dozens of software packages. Hhhmmmm See the potential issues!?

YMCK's Magic 8-bit is a VSTi, use it like any other softsynth. if you don't know how to use softsynths, do tutorial #8 and herb (guitarhacker) also has easy instructions on his website.

Lol, well it works now. So I guess my questions are answered. Except one more. I have an actual guitar, so do you know of any cheap setups that could hookup my guitar to my PC, so that I can record it?

And the Edirol VSC software synthesizer included with MC 3 has drums, too.
