Cakewalk Plugins - Sonar 3 to Platinum
Just updated this list and published it on Google Docs. [Edit 5/3/17: just corrected a few errors and omissions as suggested in the thread below, plus added Sonar 3 thru 7] https://docs.google.com/s...?gid=0&single=true Some one posted a link to an older version of this list, which I have updated for Platinum. I'm not sure who to credit, as I lost that link, but if you raise your hand, I'll be sure to thank you!!! If you notice any errors or omissions, just hit me up and I will try to fix it. I have had every version of Sonar since 8 (and a few prior to that, starting with Sonar 1), but X3 is the only other version currently installed on my machine besides Platinum. I was a new Platinum user with a clean install of Windows, and still trying to figure out where all my Cake plugins were at, so this list was tremendously helpful as a reference for which installer to run to recover the missing plugins!

mudgel That's a nice clean presentation. I have a spreadsheet but clearly someone's done some formatting. Thanks.
Here's a link to mine. It goes back to Sonar 3.
https://1drv.ms/x/s!Ahg7GEVUP0HftTsrOR1Fbrn72zMj
Hey! Thanks for that link Mike! That makes for a more complete history going back to Sonar 3!!! If your spreadsheet was the source for my effort, I give you full credit for that!!! My first attempt was aimed at creating a jpg snapshot that I could embed as a graphic to answer a forum question about recovering plugins, but that never worked out very well. So that spreadsheet sat around until I recently figured out how to share on Google docs. I still have my installers going back to Sonar 6, and I see that the only plug I am missing now is V-Sampler. That was the first plugin that showed me I needed a new computer, LOL!

Sonar 3 is where I came into the Sonar history. Cakewalk 7, 8 then Pro Audio 9 before that.
The original spreadsheet was in a post a good while back during the release period of Sonar X3. I don't remember who wrote it but it's on the tip of my virtual tongue. I copied it and added the info I had. For a while different folks sent me info that I added and used to correct some entries. So it's accurate as best I know. I'll update mine with the Splat entries which has quite a few updates over the last 28 months.
The trouble always is finding info and keeping it up to date. I'm sure a lot of it is duplicated in Cakewalk archives but where?
Anyway glad it's helped.

It's common for the user groups to maintain this info and not the company. I can think of a few user based forums I belong to that keep details on hand. The best is a special sub form called documents where only lists, manuals , fact sheets documents are stored. Like on my Yamaha o1v forum. Pretty quick to find stuff this way.

I guess a place like that would be managed by a MOD ( forum host ) in this thread you would ask them to please store the list there.

The "Loops and One shots" package bundled with X2 and X3 is not bundled with Platinum. This package is the Betascape factory library reorganized into different folders. It is approximately 4GB of samples. I believe the three loop installers bundled with Platinum were integrated into the older SONAR installers for some time.

What is the difference between the Para-Q and Parametric EQ? I know the Para-Q is one of the "half-rack" effects inherited from Project 5. The line for the Parametric EQ looks strange. I cannot recall a plug-in ever being discontinued then added back in a later version.

Dropped from X3. I think that was why you had to install the X2 program to recover that feature. Not a standalone plugin. Will make a note that it is a core feature. I guess kind of like loops and one-shots is not really an instrument. It was a content add-on...

This discussion is about the history of plugins that were available with different versions of Sonar through the years. Many of us have many versions of Sonar and still make use of the older plugins that came with them.
Melodyne Essential is actually quite capable and is the entry level retail version. Melodyne Essential can also be run standalone as well as a regular plugin or Region Fx using ARA.
VVocal was technology owned by Roland and used by Cakewalk under licence. When the Roland Cakewalk connection was broken so was the right to use VVocal.

I must have missed the standalone version of Melodyne essential. And think the plug-in version is good for quick edits if you record audio into sonar, then I can see it being more useful.

Those are Platinum only, correct? Going to take a look at the FX plugins list for Platinum today. I think there a few missing from my sheet, because so many new features have been released. I checked the instruments list, and that seems fine. This sheet should be complete now as far as legacy plugins for prior versions back to Sonar 3.
