Cakewalk Problem Reports

How many problem reports have you had disappear into the void that is 'submitted to development' ?

Have any of you had any further feedback after reaching this status?

Just curious as once they get to that stage that seems to be the end of them....there's no further feedback...

So what actually happens after that?

I've never had any emails back after "submitted to development" unless there's been any questions, but a lot of them have been fixed in updates/upgrades.

Perhaps the "development" is to develop the bug further.........

I had one come back that said "archived". The explanation was:

"...for one of a few reasons:
    • The report has been inactive with no status updates for more than 60 days.
    • The report has been deferred past the current release and will be reconsidered in a future update to the software
    • The report has been closed as low priority and will not be addressed at this time
    • The report has been closed as a non-issue due to new features and/or design changes which have resulted in this no longer being a problem
Should this issue be re-opened, notification of its status change will be sent automatically. We do not have any additional information at this time."

Also, one time I got a response back that said "FIXED" (in a quick fix).

    I've seen all of the above results;

    1. The report remains in Submitted to Development indefinitely.
    2. The report gets "archived" with no further action intended.
    3. The issue gets fixed, but I only find out by reading the fix list or testing myself.
    4. The issue gets fixed, and I get a notification that it's been fixed.

    I've also experienced:

    5. I am notified the issue is fixed, but it is not (e.g. SONAR does not remember RMS+Peak mode for record meters).

I have one like that, CWBRN-1336 filed on 2/24/2009. I got the "Submitted to Development" on 9/24/2009.

This is the one where if you enable MIDI output on any VSTi, the MIDI events will bleed all over the place into other tracks. Also, if you happen to have more than one VSTi that sends MIDI events out, Sonar will crash (which prevents you from having multiple instances of VSTis like Catanya).

CW doesn't think this is serious enough to bother fixing, even though I have been receiving empty promises from them for years that it will be fixed "in an upcoming" release. Yes, even Noel made one of those empty promises.

This is why I finally gave up, dumped Sonar in the trash can where it belongs and went to Studio One that has this stunning ability to get MIDI Routing 101 right.

And yes, I'm still ticked off about this.
