Cakewalk Publisher :(

Sorry, haven't done a search on this to see what other people have said but...

Why, WHY wouldn't Cakewalk have improved the Publisher to actually create a usable flash embed?

What doesn't work:
  • The volume
  • "more info" button
  • setting the autoplay to off
  • the text is way too small, gets cut off
  • on "full" player, no way to drag to different section of the song
Oddly enough, the "Cakewalk" link does work.  Amazing.

I don't know why, but this upsets me more than some of the weird bugs!  Mainly because I'm pretty sure they'll fix those, but the publisher is absolutely ridiculous!  Just take it out if you're not going to get a web developer to devote a day to create something presentable and useful!

edit: OK, I just figured out how the volume works.  Still, it shouldn't be something you should have to "figure out".  I know I'm a caveman, but come on.

AND, you make sure to give people the option to DOWNLOAD the song if they right click on the player! Amazing!  One of the advantages of a Flash player is that people can only hear the song and don't have the link to the file.  Can people use something like Pyro and record the stream?  Of course, but any bit helps to try and keep your music safe.

Yeah, the Cakewalk Publisher which was added in SONAR 7 doesn't really work. Neither does the CD burning feature. But nobody ever seemed to care, since there's a phletora of free and more powerful software for this, so it seems to me Cake just left them lying there...

Overall, I am loving X1. But I agree about Publisher.

Add to the bugs (for me anyway) that I can't view the skins offline (I just get red X's where there should be graphics). I find that the FTP upload feature is flaky too. I get one upload out of it, then I have to restart the publisher to get FTP to work again.

Publisher feels like an ugly cousin that was abandoned a long time ago. I wish Cakewalk would either bring it up to a reasonable standard, or remove it from their marketing material and offering.  I wasted a number of hours finding out that it is no use to me.

Hmmm I've never looked into it at all. It sounds like an interesting tool actually.

Publisher used to work like years ago. It doesn't seem to work anymore. I've been screwing with it for a few hours. Sure would be nice if it did. I can always do it manually my self :( The CD burner works for me though. I rarely use it though cause of all that Interweb stuff boing on.

Glad to find I'm not the only one who can't get this thing to work. I thought I might have deleted a whole bunch of files from it somehow and that's why nothing worked.
