Cakewalk Sound Center for Mac: Font Problem

Hi,

I'm new in this forum and have bought a Roland Cakewalk A-500S. It is working perfectly fine with the attached driver and Apple Garageband on a Macbook Pro 13 i5 2011 Snow Leopard 10.6.7, 64bit.

I have an issue with the Cakewalk Sound Center Version. The installation and the start of the program went fine, but I do not see any text in the program window!? Did someone see a similar issue? See picture.

Best regards,
Stefan

does it play anything if you try to audition the default sound?  if not I'd guess that it can't find the library, which I'm afraid I can't help with because I know nothing about macs or garageband.  you might have to contact cake about that.

if it does play the default sound, then I"m sure you'll have to contact cake about that.  that means it does see the library, but can't display it.

Yes, it plays everything. I can even choose different instruments. I just do not see what ... . I've contacted the support, so let's see.

yeah, in that case I think I will have to advise you see what support says.  that sounds like it can't find a font to display or something and that's not anything I know how to fix!

we don't often have Mac users in this forum.... that's cool to see that someone is using MC on a Mac.

Using Sound Center for Mac, not MC. SONAR 8.5 LE ships with the MIDI controller he/she bought; it includes SC for Mac. Or so I read on the product page.
Is any version of SC 64-bit compatible? I didn't see that info.

Oh... I thought, since SC comes with MC that he had MC too.... maybe Sonar X1.

I didn't see where SC is sold by itself...only as part of MC and X1

Looked it up in the store and this is what I found.

    Sound Center
Cakewalk Sound Center is available in Music Creator 5, the Cakewalk Production Plus Pack 3, and all versions of SONAR X1.

Yeah, I couldn't find it in the store; had to do a specific search for the 'Sound Center for Mac' phrase.

So I'm back for an update. The Cakewalk support seems to be not really interested in helping me. First they have sent me a link to an updated Windows version to download, then they proposed the "fix-permissions-and-reinstalling-the-computer" typical blabla and now death silence!

Congratulations to the Cakewalk Support Team for the "It's not my job award!"

... it's getting funnier day by day. I've just got an answer from a different Cakewalk support person, telling me, that the Cakewalk Sound Center does not exist for MAC!!!! I'm just wondering, why the MAC version is still on my DVD delivered with the master keyboard. They recommended me to install Windows ...

well, I'm sorry to hear that.  I've always had excellent support from them, but I'm not on a Mac!  and most of their products are not supported for Mac, even tho this one IS listed that way on the store.

I wish we could help you but you're the only person I know trying to use SC directly on a Mac.

Wow. That's really sad about tech support.  Maybe you should point them to your screenshot of the OSX version?

Just for curiosity, which version of OSX are you running, and what does Sound Center list as the requirement? There are font handling differences between OSX versions. Maybe that's a clue.

I have sent them the screen shot from the beginning and also pointed them to this thread.

On the package it says: Mac OS X v10.4 or later ... . I'm using the standard OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7 version.

I do not know the font handling details of OS X, but I'm afraid that they have never tested this version on a newer Mac.
