I notice that the Cakewalk deal does NOT require iLok.  found that interesting.

I know nuttin about the plugins but it seems like a nice way to get into Wave plugins.

Is this new version 64 bit? It seems like a really good deal. My original Waves bundle is ancient by today's standards and I still use things like the L1 and R Comp.

waves has slowly been compromising the cost of their plugins at a slow incline.
I think the heat from many vendors putting out quality plug ins at more reasonable offers has made them re-invent the price exchange, this has been a great benefit for users.

That's free market competition for ya! Love it....

Waves just had a sale on (although it might be over) where you could get the Gold bundle for about $380. Some of the plugs in there used to cost more than that by themselves.

Is this bundle vst only, or does it contain RTAS as well?

Waves no longer requires iLok since early last year IIRC.

okay I did not know that.  good to know.  The Cakewalk product page in the store had iLok NOT required in bold like it was a new feature or special to Cakewalk.

great now I have to go in a corner and rock back n forth to avoid all the wave sales.

I own lots of plugins, but none from Waves, so this peaked my interest.  But I do have some questions that a former/current Silver Bundle owner might be able to help with - I couldn't find answers in their Answer Base for anything that had "Silver" in it's name.

I don't understand the Waves Update Plan, but the Silver Bundle doesn't appear to be covered by it.  Is this true?

IR-L does not provide access to Acoustics.net - correct?

Is it true you can only install the bundle on a single machine at a time?

If all the plugins are 64-bit, they sound great (quality wise), they impart an interesting character, and they're stable - then this looks like a great deal.  If the suite is being deeply discounted for us because there won't be a version 10 or you can't update/upgrade the bundle - that's an issue at any price.

    Regards,

I wish I got emails.  Used to get them back in the 90's from Cake.  Anyway, anyone have a link to where the offer is online?  Save me the 15 seconds it'd take to search

dcasey there's a video on the Waves site that details how to register the bundle and yes it can be used on a second machine. Heres a link to the actual Silver bundle from their site:

I hope this question is not silly.  I am just starting out learning, but putting many hours in and getting serious in recording songs for my band and others and myself.  Should I consider buying Waves?  The reason I ask is shouldn't I have enough plugins in Sonar X1 Producer to record and master good music?  Thanks in advance,

    Best Regards, Dan

I was thinking maybe there is something in Waves that could be very useful.  But I am only starting out working hard up the learning curve (which I am enjoying). so most probably I should wait until I have more experience to appreciate?

I agree with one exception - I have all the PC plugs except concrete limiter. I opt to use a limiter from another vendor (TB Barricade).

I do 'really' like it that cake offers these deals and appears to be proactive in partnering with other notable vendors to get us discounts. That's good stuff happening for all of us!

    Dan

    Dan,

Silver is covered by the Waves Update Plan...all Waves products are covered by WUP for one year from the date of purchase.
What this means is that if a new version of the Plugins or Bundle comes out within that year you get it for free...after that One year you must renew your WUP to be covered for upgrades in the event of new plugins, but you can use the current plugins as long as you like...you just won't get the new ones for free.

Also, the price you pay for One Year of coverage is turned into a Voucher for the exact dollar amount you spend that can be used to buy more plugins...up to 50 percent off Bundles and 25 percent off Single Plugins.

I own IR-L and have full access to Acoustics.net...

I purchased the Native Power Pack first, then upgraded to Silver, then to Gold, now I'm at Platinum and my WUP goes until January of 2015.

I have a LOT of Waves Plugins (not near as many as Bapu) but it's well worth the money and they DO NOT require Ilok in Version 9, which is the 64 bit versions...

    It's a great deal IMHO...

to ME, they are the best...

    Cheeres!

Aren't some of these older plugs? I thought I heard that the Q10, for example was ten years old. Paul
