Cakewalk Studioverb 32 bit on 64 bit X1

What I want to do is to be able to use the old studioverb cakewalk 32 bit from 8.5 (IIRC) and use it in my new project in x1 64bit.

I heard of something called bitbridge or something like that. Can someone tell me in detail how to use 32 bit plugins in a 64 bit X1?

Here is a link to the plugin I want to use again that came with 8.5: http://editthis.info/images/sonar/7/73/Cakewalk_fx_reverb.png

Thanks

bit bridge works "seemlessly" in sonar.  if you're running 64bit sonar and load a 32bit vst then as long as you haven't disabled bitbridge (it's on by default) then it should load.

if you're trying to load a DX FX however, bitbridge will not work - it's only for VSTs.

unfortunately, the Cakewalk FXReverb (studioverb 32) IS a DX FX.  you cannot use it in 64bit sonar.

Is there any way to get it to work in x1?

All you should have to do is have X1 scan the VST folder where Studioverb is installed. If it's not installed already and you have the original install disks, then you should be able to just install that plug-in from the disk.

If that doesn't work, that means Studioverb is not compatible with x64 and you will have to use X1 32bit. I ran in to that with some DirectX plug-in's and I think Studioverb is a DirectX plug-in. X1 comes with Studioverb 2 if that's of any interest to you.

Yes, but not in Sonar 64. It won't even show up in 64 because it's Dx like Reece mentioned. I've heard there are DX wrappers that turn the DX to VST or something you can use, but everyone I know that has tried them said they use quite a bit of resources to work. And, by the time you wrap a DX to VST and then bitbridge it, God knows what may happen.

I can't imagine that scenario and the word "seamless" being in the same sentence Danny

The thing about DX wrappers is that your system won't recognise a DX plug in wrapped as a VST as being the same plugin. So when you load your project up, it will look for the DX plug, not find it, and you'll still get the placeholder box. Now, you will be able to swap that for the wrapped VST version, but there's no automatic way of getting that to pick up the settings from the placeholder.

So you can work around it with abit of writing down settings in the previous version and copying them over by hand, but this is of course no fun, and probably exactly not what you're after, which is presumably the ability to just load the project up and have it sound the same automatically.
