Cakewalk UA-1G Driver Windows 10
Hi. After upgrading to Windows 10, my Guitar Rig 3 and Amplitube 3 are not working. I suspect the problem is with the UA-1G USB Interface, as the driver is not installing. Tried uninstalling, updating, Windows 8 drivers and nothing seems to work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The UA-1G and APro keyboard drivers are still in the testing phase. I'm waiting on their release to upgrade. I reverted back to Win 7 in the meantime.

Thanks for the reply. Bummer! I guess that's the price I'll need to pay for upgrading soon. Guess I'll have to wait for the driver releases :-(

Checked Roland's Windows 10 Driver Page and found that the Win 10 driver is now available. The driver did automatically download and install correctly without any interaction from me once I connected the UA-1G. It is now working perfectly. There isn't a way currently that I could find to download the driver manually. The file on their Windows 10 Drivers page is simply a collection of HTML help files in various languages. You have to get the update automatically when you connect the device, but the bottom line is, if you want Windows 10 back and this was a problem... problem solved!

It looked like Roland had released a manual download, but it was just a bunch of Read Me files to say that it will download automatically when you plug it in. I had done the .inf hack to trick Windows into installing an older driver, so I just went to the UA-1G in device manager and did the update driver, and sure enough it found it and got it updated.

timwillingham makes an important point that I left out of my post. The automatic update came for me because I had removed the old driver completely, so when I plugged in the UA-1G, Windows grabbed the updated driver automatically. If you still have the outdated driver installed, you can update it via Device Manager (in Win 10, right click the Start Menu button and you can get to Device Manager from the menu that pops up). Right click the faulty UA-1G entry and update the driver from there. If you're still running 7, it's probably safe to assume that the driver will be updated automatically during the upgrade process now that it is available, but if you were sticking with 10 while waiting for the driver update, the above instructions should get you back up and running. P.S. Thanks to those at Roland for getting this sorted out. It's greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid the driver isn't automatically downloading for me, so I can't get device working on my Windows 10 laptop. If anyone knows where I can manually download the driver, or even send me a copy, I shall be most grateful!

Did you try going into Device Manager and updating from there? See my previous post if you don't already know how to access Device Manager in Windows 10. You can also remove the installed driver from there if Windows installed the wrong one for some reason. You want to remove drivers that have a question mark. They are generic and won't work. As of the last time I checked there was no manual download for the drivers, so nobody should have a driver file to share. Be careful if someone offers one. Make sure you remove the old driver if it installed somehow and make sure you have a network connection at the time you connect the device so Windows has access to the updated files right away. Otherwise you might end up with a useless generic driver that could block the correct driver from being installed. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, your advice has not helped: There was no driver to delete as I'd not used the device with this 'puter before. I removed all drivers where there was a ? mark. The network connection is constant and the Advanced Drived switch is in the On position. The devise is powered by the USB and visually responds when a microphone is connected to it, so it appears to be in working order However, in spite of this all, the new driver does not download when the device is plugged in to the 'puter's USB! I have tried the devise on my son's custom-made PC, which also runs Windows 10, and we have the same result - the driver does not download.

Do you have the original installation cd that came with the UA-1G? If so, install the drivers even though they aren't compatible. Then you can try updating them via Device Manager. If you don't have the cd, try visiting Cakewalk's site or Roland. Go to their support sections and look for downloads or drivers. Download whatever is the latest version of the Windows drive that they offer. Once installed, try updating via Device Manager.

This should solve your problem. It did for me and my UA25-EX. Go Here: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/home.aspx You'll need to use IE 6 or later. (IE 11 is available in Win10. Just search Win 10 for Internet Explorer). Once there search for "ROLAND". Your device is on the third page of eight. There are two drivers. The one sized 609 KB is for x64. The other for 32 bit. Add that to your basket. Click View Basket. Then Download. Unzip that file. Then go to Device Manager and find your device. Click the Driver tab, Then Update Driver and select Browse My Computer for Driver. Select the .INF file from your unzipped download file. You should be in business.

As a comment on Pentagore's post. I have two DAWs. On my older DAW the driver for my UA 25-EX was installed when I updated to Win 10 from Win 7. On my newer DAW it did not. I'm not sure why that is but for my newer DAW I had to do a manual find and install.

I joined this forum just to say thanks to Mr Mooks for his info on getting the UA-1G driver for Windows 10. It did not "download automagically from the web" as promised by Roland. My device is working great at 24/96 now!
