Cakewalk at NAMM
It was really nice hanging out and talking with Bill, Dan, and Ryan from Cakewalk today. Surrounded by hardware from Tascam and seeing SONAR dominating the view on a large screen was most excellent. Z3ta on the iPad looked pretty cool too.

It was nice bumping into a few users there. I see a new business model starting. We have already seen a couple of users volunteering to trade body parts for feature requests ;)

Noel, There a few members here who have met me and they can testify to the fact that Cakewalk DOES NOT want any of my body parts.

Noel, were you there too? I didn't see you. I would love to meet you if you are at NAMM too. I'll be back on Sunday. By the way, SONAR absolutely dominates! You guys have done such an incredible job making X3 the best DAW available. Thank you.

The coolest thing in the world at the Tascam Booth were the two young kids, a 7 y/o girl and a younger 5 y/o boy scratching and mixing the turntables and mixer like real professionals! Now that should have been in front of the booth! That would have brought the Namm house down, the most exciting live performance I've seen at the Namm show altogether. It was cool!

>>We have already seen a couple of users volunteering to trade body parts for feature requests ;)<< Who are these people??!? Let's see, if I gave an ear, how would I hear my mixes on Sonar? If I gave an arm, how would I operate Sonar? If I gave an eye, how would I see Sonar on my 24" monitor? If I gave a leg, how would I get the occasional beer from the fridge in the next room so I can feel refreshed to continue using Sonar? If they do implement this new business model I certainly wouldn't lose my head over it...

Charles, you know what they say: pictures or it didn't happen! At least post a few snapshots of some booth babes and guitars with rocket launchers.

I wish I could have gone, too. It just wasn't in the cards this year. CW probably wouldn't want any of my body parts either.

NAMM is on my bucket list. I am incorporated with a small amp company (handwired 5F1 clones). I think my wife set me up with Etowah Studios, Inc. too. So I guess I could get a pass... I've never tried, but if that don't work I've a friend who owns a major studio in Brentwood, I'll get a pass BUT.. which one is the better show, winter or summer? What fun!! ...and Craig, if you read this.. I will likely get only one visit to NAMM in my life so I'll be hectoring you for a pass to the Gibson exhibit !! I hope you all had a blast! J

I was at NAMM on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. I didn't see Cakewalk AT ALL on Thursday despite visiting the Tascam booth. There were some retail boxes of Sonar versions on display but that was it. On Friday I discovered there was a computer setup behind a wall in the Tascam booth...and that was the Cakewalk display. I feel kinda sad. I remember when Cakewalk had one of the bigger booths in Hall A. Now it's just a single DAW setup behind a wall. I hope this isn't a taste of things to come. :(
