Cakewalk driving me mad !

Is anyone else in the same boat here ? ive spent 2 days trying to download X2 fire fox, internet explorer, google chrome, trying match check sums not matched. Then when ive finally had enough ive tried to email cakewalk technical support, fill out all the problems, click submit, and then there is problem and cant be sent. I love using sonar as my DAW and really want to use what i have paid for, but just cant get anywhere. If anyone from cakewalk on here sees this please, please can you help me, im getting so frustrated now. I would really appreciate some help or my money back till i can have a working download. Kind Regards, Ben

Hi ,for this huge download is better to use a download manager. I use Free Download Manager for audio stuff. It's perfect. I have download X2 parts in two hours with any problems. Good luck.Best.Roby

This works a treat. It'll be your saviour.

    http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm

Once downloaded, open it up completely. Then go to your cakewalk download page:

And then simply DRAG the .exe link into the download manager. Click the appropriate 'OK' buttons in the manager and let it work its magic. I was using Chrome for all of this. If dragging doesn't work, right click the link, copy the url and import that into your manager.

Cool cool. Should give you some happy signs like below.

I just re-did it then for you so it has a few things you don't have (i.e. the already on disk bit), but if it all looks green and happy like that, you should be fine! You can just drag in each and every .exe file so they are ALL in there, and then select all the stuff you don't want to download yet, and just click stop. You can resume those downloads later. For now, I'm sure you just want to put all your bandwidth into part1/part2/part3/part4, which is the main program.

They all downloaded but when i try and launch them part 1 is ok but as soon as it finishes it says 'please download and run previous packages' which is the same problem ive been having all along. But thankyou very much for all the help you have given me, it is much appreciated :-) i think i will ask cakewalk for a disk or ask for my money back and stick with X1 as ive wasted so much time on this to get nowhere. kind regards Ben

Do they all look like this?

Or does only .part1 have the X2 logo? They should all have the X2 logo. If only part1 does, then your .exe is missing off the end of the other files. If they are all in the same folder just like above, it should work...

I used Chrome over my Time Warner cable connection and every file was perfect the first try. Not only that, I downloaded 3 files at a time and I was on a teleconference call the entire time they were downloading.

I'm in the same boat as Ben - and there is nothing wrong with my system or my network (I transfer large files over it every single day as part of my work). This is a Cakewalk problem.

You don't need to extract!! They are self executing files that will extract automatically...

I created a folder to house all the downloaded files separate from the root of the download folder. When you double click the first file, it will start extracting all 4 files - if - they are in the same folder.

move all of your download files to a folder on desktop. if the files dont have the "x2" logo, add .exe to the end of the file name. double click part #1 it should begin install, when its done it should ask for part #2,etc..

I finally got it to install - after maybe the 20th time of downloading every file. I'd wager it's just a traffic problem with Cakewalk's servers.

Had to make sure my antivirus was turned off before initiating the install, too, once I checked each file after downloading to see if I was still getting the error message.

I give up :-( there must be some glitch in my computer, i downloaded files on a different pc and transfered them accross, started to run them to be greeted with the same error message. Ive spent 5 days trying to get this to work, i guess its time to through in the towel. as it was a download i dont think i can get a refund :-( such a frustrating waste of time and money. I will have to stick with X1 as there just seems absolutely no solution, i just cant figure this out, and cant afford to spend anymore time on this.

Ben- personally I strongly recommend that you spend the $30 and get the DVD's coming as soon as they are available. I know you may think it's good money after bad - but it's a small investment to get X2 up and running.
Meanwhile, run X1 and take a deep breath and wait for the dust to settle -
    I know it's frustrating.
If it's any consolation - X2 is extremely solid here. A great release. I have the world's slowest "broadband" connection (LOL) and downloading the files was an experience, but I knew what i was in for, and just decided to be patient - it took me a couple of days but what the heck....
X2'll be ready to go when you are ready to give it another try -

Have you contacted tech support? They might be able to help you by setting up a remote to your computer and helping you install it. If the files are indeed downloaded properly there is not a whole lot that can go wrong. There has to be something messed up with the file extensions or permissions on your system. Tech will be able to troubleshoot that with you.
Its fruitless trying to do this over a web forum.
