DrBoom I'm sure I can't be the only one here that is seriously disgusted at the fact of cakewalk now being free. For something that thousands of us literally paid hundreds of dollars for over the years. INCLUDING lifetime updates. Just to have another company step in and give it out for free... It is not right by any means and for anyone that says it is, think of it this way. if you bought a car and a company went and took over that company that you bought the car from. Then decides, HEY lets give it out for free! I am very sure you would be hauling @ZZ back to that car lot demanding your money back. This is NO different.
The thing is you leased your car from the factory, the factory has shut down and gone out of business. It's now under new management and ownership, with a new vision and business-plan. You didn't invest in anything, you paid rent. The new owner has decided not to charge rent for his property. That's pretty cool in my eyes.

Just use another DAW if you don't like Bandlab because you got screwed. We all got screwed by Gibson and or Cakewalk. I moved on like many others. No sense complaining. There are other good DAWs out there. Find one you like and make music. No DAW will have everything you like including Sonar. Just move on.

I'm not sure I did. I would have felt something, wouldn't I? Unless it happened while I was using the Cosby plug-in that came with the final SONAR update.

For you who don’t know. Cakewalk is free because of you are buying the membership at the BandLab community. You are "selling your soul" to be a part of that community. I don’t think that is a bad deal. And if they are to raise the price at some point in time, I will pay for Cakewalk as long as it is decent priced. And I see their community as much better than Facebook/Twitter/YouTube.

And I see their community as much better than Facebook/Twitter/YouTube.I consider myself to be in the red zone of the paranoid meter, but am totally chilled out with the BandLab community. To me it looks like the greatest thing since mp3.com, and I feel exited to be taking part in it. I'm slightly nervous about the radical change in power relationship with this free thang ... but that's life ... I think it may be viewed as a positive thing to have an owner, which seems to have a hands on approach and a vision. I wonder if Sonars problem's may stem from the lack of active ownership and direction, in combination with making the paradigm shift from MIDI based DAW, to Audio/Sample/Loop a bit late. I guess it is understandable, I doubt loop based creations had a high star on the forum back in those days. I see some here still have problems with it.

The great thing abut souls is that you get to sell it again, and again, and again. I'm not sure what happens when all those buyers find out abut each other.

It's Bass, not Bass. i7 2700K, 16GB DDR3, 2 SSD sample drives and OS drive, HDD SATAIII for projects, 2 24" monitors Focusrite Saffire Pro 24, Focusrite VRM Box, LAVA Lamp, SONAR Platinum 64 bit, Mackie MCU and 1 MCU XT, Akai Advance 49, Windows 10, Komplete 9 Ultimate, Cakewalk, Toontrack, IK, AAS, XLN, UVI, Air Music Tech, Waves Factory, Sample Tek and Sonivox VSTi's.
