I'm not a Beta tester....while you get rich.Your first post on this forum proves that you are not a BETA Tester. I started with you because your name was ROLANDCakewalk has always been Cakewalk. Roland sells interfaces etc. I believe Roland was part of the company for less than one year and that was two years ago. Gibson is part of the company now. Gibson makes Guitars etc. You have used Cakewalk for more than two years i guess and have never been on this forum except to complain that the software is no good and demand your money back. If the software was as you say that bad two years ago, You should have stopped then. Now look at us on Forums always trying to resolve your mess. You haven't been on the forum except for today. How can you think that you contributed in resolving anything? This for me is the stupidest post I have ever seen on the forum and compliments your way of thinking. I think personally that Magic's Daw will get you on the road to creativity again. I do wish you luck.

To be fair you have no way of knowing that - Joined: 9/27/2014 He or she may well have been here many many times since then, just has never made a post. I personally have been visiting these forums for many years, but only started posting on them in the last 18 months - 2 years. But true to form on these forums it is only the posts that praise Cakewalk/Sonar that are accepted, any sign of decent or unhappiness is pounced on by the overzealous hoards. Is it any wonder these forums have the reputation they have outside this little bubble ? Let me tell you, it's not a good one. Yes he may well be a troll, but come on, do you think he signed up 14 months ago just waiting for this moment ? possible, but I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt. For all anyone knows he may have valid reasons for his anger towards Cakewalk/Sonar, just hasn't stated them, maybe he is very angry, maybe he has trouble putting things into words, who knows. But true to form, just strike anyone down who isn't full of praise, shoot first and ask questions later. Where these forums were once something to be proud of, they really have turned into something of an embarrassment, and to be honest make me sick sometimes. So have at it.

I'll be the first to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but he hasn't even asked a question! "Cakewalk sucks and I want my money back" is not the most positive way to engage forum members. I would know instantly what to expect on ANY forum if I were to make my first post in such a way.

As you have clearly just shown. As I said, there could be many reasons for this, but instead of finding out, just shoot to kill, that's how it is here unfortunately, which is sad.

Hi Jeff I believe that even though a person has been a member since 2014 they should start off their first post with "HELLO" Second of all should state his problem that he has either here or call directly (or mail) to find a solution to his problem. Thinking at the time that because Roland took over the company that he is getting the holy grail is stupid. Software is software. Many times on the forum ,Cakewalk get blamed for the problems while the problems are computer setup, interfaces, wrong preferences and the list goes on. Forum members are here to help other members that have a problem. When you don't say what the problem is and start your first thread the way he did only asks for more problems. I have learned this the hard way on the forum through my anger and luckely learned from it. Respecting each other is the best way to go in these situations. Everyone will have their bad days. But true to form on these forums it is only the posts that praise Cakewalk/Sonar that are accepted, any sign of decent or unhappiness is pounced on by hoards of the overzealous. Is it any wonder these forums have the reputation they have outside this little bubble ? Let me tell you, it's not a good one. This I don't agree with. There are many members with as you put it signs of decent or unhappiness. 95% of them are willing to discuss the issues at hand and 98% of the time are helped out of their problems. And again I say that nothing is perfect in this world, but to wait for 2 years to post one thread and challenge forum members to prove him wrong without any explanation whatsoever is a Troll as far as i'm concearned. I want to thank you for your thread even if we don't agree we still communicate. Danny

It doesn't matter whether anyone agrees with anything or not, the facts are there in black and white time and time again, it's how this place works. Sadly there was a user by the name of Paulo (forum.cakewalk.com/Profile/36142/) He had a name for those people I refer to as the 'Overzealous Hoards', it was the 'Happy Clappers", I can recall pulling him up in a couple of threads and having a go at him about it, sadly I now understand where he was coming from, and totally understand why he doesn't come here any longer, and I apologize to him for anything I said, I can now see where you were coming from Paulo, my apologies. Enjoy your little bubble people, Over and Out.

We all know that the OP started this thread with a lot of clearly inflaming words. That does not mean we need to respond in kind. I fully understand the forum coming to defend Sonar but it isn't needed. Everyone here knows Sonar works well. The OP would do far better and get useful replies by stating his problems in detail and listing steps he has taken to fix them. A list of his system specs and audio device would prove helpful. In this forum it is our duty to help not attack. I will lock this thread if nothing useful comes out of it.

I don't believe I was attacking anyone. Especially the OP. I was just trying to make clear that the op shouldn't start with such a thread. You are the moderator . Do whatever you want.

Here's the pattern that I notice: 1) a completely unheard-of member, whether new or of the silent-lurker variety, posts an incoherent micro-rant about how Sonar is useless garbage and Cakewalk are criminals, and usually demands a refund. Almost without exception there is no specific problem mentioned, and no indication that they are looking for a solution. 2) active forum members respond with a mix of bemusement and annoyance, and usually someone picks apart the original post in some level of detail, noting its aggressive tone and lack of specificity. 3) someone else steps up and begins screaming loudly that somehow this proves that the forum is actually a den of fanboy fascists who will not tolerate dissenting voices, or indeed anyone who has the audacity to mention that the software might have any flaws at all, or that the forum is not a blissful utopia of happy collective self-congratulation. The fact that there are at any given moment over a hundred active threads of people discussing bugs, proposing features or improvements we'd like to see, and above all helping each other sort out problems, is immaterial to this poster, who also siezes on any disagreement with their vitriolic rant as proof. 4) the OP however rarely if ever reappears. Their work here is done. 5) some of us can't help but wonder if the OP troll and the anti-fascist champion are in fact the same person. Others wonder if the OP is a mole representing a competitor, or just a fanchild of a competitor's product. 6) Life goes on, we turn our attention back to more interesting/productive pursuits, but the place is a little diminished. I have to say, I think in general it would be better if we just collectively tried to overcome the impulse to respond, and let these threads that are obviously going nowhere slide gracefully down the page into oblivion. I know I've just done the opposite here, but I'm going to try to adopt that stance in future. EDITED for one spelling correction

To the Original Poster of this thread - if you ever wish to try to resolve whatever issues have frustrated you to the point of your starting this thread, you will find folks in the forums willing to assist, if you are willing to engage in the process of problem determination and resolution. To do so, please start a new thread, listing whatever level of detail for each issue that you can provide, along with listing the specs of your computer and interface, so that we can get a better idea of how to help.
