Cakewalk you've locked me out

You moved my thread to the off topic forum but i am unable to post on that forum for some strange reason. I assume me not being able to post on the off topic forum occured when you moved the thread, i can post on every forum but that one.Don't know who to contact to solve this problem so i believe this post is the best way.

True, you can't. Moving a thread there is Cakewalk's way of saying "not here, buddy" .. find another forum to talk about misc stuff i guess.

I don't know what Cakewalk was thinking when they decided to use a "moved thread" flag that usually just takes you to another room and putting your thread in that quarantine

Tell me about it. A whole thread of mine just vanished this afternoon--every post--with no explanation. The thread was about other threads being sent to OT purgatory prematurely. Premature excommunication.

What's the use of having a forum you can't post on? They might as well just delete the threads altogether rather then moving it to the off topic forum and placing a link to it so we can go look at it for nothing. I don't mind being moved to an off topic forum but posting on that forum should be allowed especially when good positive discussions are going. I THINK THIS IS A REALLY MESSED UP RULE CAKEWALK!

The "Coffee House fiasco", when it was at its worst, was the most fun I've ever seen in a forum.

Can't blame 'em for deleting OT posts in here though. I won't blame 'em when they delete this one.

I would think if something is completely off topic, it can get pretty political and Cakewalk being a business probably don't want to mix business with personal.

Small, yes, and it's a fine part of the world--close enough to Toronto to commute, esp. if you work north of the 401--yet smack dab in the middle of some really beautiful farmland. Another coincidence: we've both chosen names that proudly flaunt our seniority (or is that senility?)

Glen Gould was from these parts as well, so we're in good musical company.

    Hi attalus-
What's the use of having a forum you can't post on? They might as well just delete the threads altogether rather then moving it to the off topic forum and placing a link to it so we can go look at it for nothing.

My impression is that they move OT topics there for just a little while so people can read them if they're interested. They delete them pretty quickly, and no, they don't allow new posts.

Minor correction ... Posts moved to the Off Topic forum are not deleted. They are left there forever for all to read. We feel this approach is more acceptable tha moderating with a heavy hand (deleting).

    Hi Tom-
Posts moved to the Off Topic forum are not deleted.

Well, that's new, then, since I've certainly seen some that have been deleted.

EDIT: Just one that comes to mind is the "OT: My gripe with Newbies" thread from June. I'm sure there are others.

    Thanks-

It's still there. You have to adjust the Display topics from last: drop down at the top of the page. HTH.

    Look what I found:

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=819473

Every trace of this thread was gone for about 20 hours, then it suddenly reappeared this afternoon in the OT forum. Perhaps professor Plum felt great remorse about how he'd been using the candlestick and tried to end it with a long, cool drink of dihydrogen monoxide.

    Not really.

I'm sure everyone here is guilty of off topic posts at some point so let us not act as if we don't do it. I'm quite sure if i look at the list of threads right now i'll see some here who are posting off topic. But also know this my gripe was not over my thread being moved to the off topic forum but that i could not post on that forum. so to david if someones debating over the existence of a dog you should not know about it unless your hanging in the off topic forum where i prefer off topics to be discussed (that's what this is about), i'm quite sure your good at avoiding the forums on this site that your not interested in..Before debate is sturred up whether off topic forum should allow posting or not know that it is not wrong or uncommon to have such a thing and ultimately it is Cakewalk's decision alone. Although i was around when coffee house was around i don't know what happened to it, but i do know that any forum can get out of hand so ultimately its just about enforcing rules.

Why not a general discussions forum?

BTW this thread only relates to the forum and neither SONAR Producer or SONAR Studio but yet a moderator joins in on the topic. Geesh, this is going to be fun to watch.

    have a good one
