Callie Video

I do this tune live quite often (which beats doing it dead...bah dah CHING...!). I like it as an opener because it's somewhat recognizable and has a groove. Anyway, I was practicing, and decided to make a video out of my practice session. Saxophones and wind synthesizer tracked and mixed using Sonar (of course).

Your video and sax playing was really nicely done. Left you a message on YouTube. Nice smooth sound.

Awesome break out at the 1:09 mark.  You's a playah!  :-)

Nice piece, nice jamming.  Never seen a 'wind jammer' before. That was cool!

Awesome playing and work.  Nice micing on the sax too.  Good verb 'n room tone on the thing as well.

Thank you, Frank. I appreciate the compliment and the sheer fact that you took the time to check it out, especially since I'm not around as much as I used to be. :-)

Thank you, Daryl. I do like the expressiveness of the wind synth. It's nice to be able to shape notes with volume, pitch, timbre, etc., just like an acoustic wind instrument, even when playing sounds that don't attempt to closely mimic those acoustic sounds. Thanks for noticing. :-)

Thanks, Martin, for the nice compliments. :-) Funny you should mention sax micing. It's not the way I typically mic myself for recording, but there are things I like about the bell sound from the Shure clip-on. Usually, I use a Beyer ribbon, which is much darker, but I'm thinking about experimenting with a hybrid with the Beyer and the clip-on.
