Calling All Alesis Fusion 8HD Users

I'm a proud, new user of the Fusion 8HD, but still having a bit of a learning curve getting the most out of some of the routing and FX features. Part of my objective is to extract as much power via it's FX & routing capabilities as I can before I send it to my DAW PC.

My DAW is Sonar 7, and I have a beast under my PC's hood, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use the ADAT routing and the I/O26, for example to it's full advantage.

So, without confusing everybody else anymore than I already am, I'd like to solicit any and all of the creative FX and routing uses that everyone has come up with and see what I like, or how I can improve that hopefully.

Thanks,
KC

I've got one too and I love it. Unfortunately I can't help you much with the routing as I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to that aspect of it. you could try posting your question here:

and see if that gets you anywhere. do you have all of the hollowsun expansions installed yet? good stuff

Clydewinder, I've been away from my Fusion 8HD for sometime, but I'm getting re-acclimated to it now. I was reading some old threads when I came across yours, and I wanted to see how you were doing with your Fusion, since your previous thread said you were a newbie. I WAS using X2, but I'm more comfortable on 8.5.3, so I used my credit to buy the entire Dimension Pro instead. So, I had originally posted this on the 8.5.3 forum in order not to break forum protocol, but someone there suggested since most Sonar readers were here, instead of there, I thought I'd post it here, as well. Having said that, I'm all of a sudden having issues with automating my Patch selection via Sonar. I am NOT saying I have a problem with Sonar. I'm merely asking of any Fusion users here what is their method of automating their patch selection with their equipment. Meaning, do you use a OMNI channel setting? I use an absolute channel setting for each track so I never make the mistake of recording data meant for 1 channel, or track, going on another channel. The MIDI Template provided on the Fusion is a great idea, but I'm having a LOT of problems on the Alesis making it automatically accept the DAW program assignments. Hep Me, KC

It would help if you can find or create an INS (instrument) file for the Fusion 8HD. That will map the voices in the Fusion so you can select them in Sonar by using the Bank and Patch fields.

I've already done that. The problem is the Fusion isn't responding properly. As of now, I have Sonar set so I can only record on 1 absolute channel at a time, which shouldn't be a problem with the Fusion if the MIDI Template were responding properly. I realize from your signature you're not using the Fusion, but when I 1st bought it someone on this forum told me that was the way to go, and it does make sense...WHEN IT WORKS, because it uses whatever patches you have hardwired on the Fusion. In my case, they ain't stickin' to the hardwire.

How does one create the INS file for use in Sonar?

I haven't the foggiest idea where to start or how to do it.
    Thanks in advance
