The Sovtek 7199 is only $19.95

Thanks, Per...unfortunately, the Sovtek's were discontinued a while back, and I couldn't find anybody with them in stock.
Mike- thanks for the reply, and sorry for calling you out by name
(I just knew you'd have a reliable opinion on the matter).
As for the wiring diagram, it's pretty easy. It's three wires to swap to get the pinout from one tube to the other.
http://site.tubedepot.com/7199_6u8.pdf Also very easy to get at the pins: the Rocket2 is point to point wired with a ton of room in there. Probably worth it for me to make the swap in the long run. I'm already needing to replace the opto unit in there so it'll be open already.
Those old Ampegs certainly used tubes that did not become the common models.
Oh yeah. This amp uses 7591's for the output section. Super easy to get now, but I had to replace them a few years before they were reissued. Ungh. Expensive, hard to find. But totally worth it. This amp rocks.
The 7199 was usually used as a driver tube.
Thanks, ew. Yes, the 7199 is a driver in this amp. Really simple amp actually: 12ax7 for pre / EQ, 7199 driver, 7591's in the output section. Solid state rectifier. That's it.
