Camera Conundrums

The screen has on on my Miicro-FourThirds camera. I have two changeable lenses for it and I just love the camera and both prime lenses give me good pictures. It's over 5 years old, I picked it up second hand.
I can change the screen myself, I just need the part

Panasonic Vietnam - Don't stock it
Panasonic Japan - Apparently have discontinued it (according to Panasonic Vietnam)
Panasonic Lithuania - had it listed, placed an order, which will take three weeks, but I need sooner (details in a bit), when I asked about express, they can do, but it's on order for 22/02/2017. But if it's discontinued I could just be an order entry that updates itself. The part is reasonably priced
Panasonic UK - They won't sell the part, I have to go through an Authorised repairers, who won't sell the part unless they do the repair.
A third party Parts company in the US, won't have it until 2/2/2017 or 30 days, but that could just be another system date, that updates itself. If Panasonic Japan have stopped making it.

I've put feelers out to these asking for confirmation that it's definitely going to be available, but responses are slow.

A guy in Da Nang that deals in second hand cameras, says he has contacts with these sort of things, but it may turn into nothing.

Here's my urgency. My Dad is coming to visit in on the 24th. We are going to do so trips locally over the national New year holiday TET (Lunar new year). The week after we are going to travel to the most beautiful place in Vietnam, Sa Pa near the Chinese border. It's going to be great taking pictures if these places, and I don't really have pictures of my me and my dad, so that would be great too. If I could get the part to him, he could bring it with him. I've also a friend returning after TET from Australia, so I've emailed Panasonic Australia.

I just get the feeling if I gave it more time, I would get the part eventually, but after my dad's visit.

So my thinking is to get a replacement camera. Panasonic don't sell cameras here. So I should get it delivered to my dad to bring with him. If I do get the camera, and the part turns up, I don't want two of the same level, so I'm thinking of getting a better model. From the same line, so I can still use my lenses.

The camera I have my eye costs 550 quid. Much more than I want to spend, but Jessops have aweird cashback deal, where after purchasing you apply for the cashback, and provide proof of purchase. Meaning I spend 550 now, but in 2-3 months I get 200 back. So maybe a second camera isn't a bad long term plan, and will help me avoid being in this situation again. My pan was to give it a week asking all these contact to confirm the part, if nothing comes of it order.

Just checked Jessops, and the offer runs out Monday.

On top of that I have it down to two cameras, one from Panasonic, the other from Olympus, both use the same lens format. Both are available from Jessops with the same offer.

If it was 350, I'd just do it, but the cashback scheme makes me feel a little uneasy, so I feel like I should treat the price as 550

Not here really. If I got my father to rent one in the UK, it would be a DLSR, so I'd need to rent the lenses too. Over a month, that would be a significant cost of the purchase price. I'd rather use the money to invest in a second. Thanks for the suggestion though.

In the process of writing this, and then sleeping on it. Not much sleep thanks to my cat, I think I'm more and inclined to go a head and order the second.

In, researching this camera, it's main additions include 4K video (though the mic is bad), electronic viewfinder, In body stabilization and larger sensor. There's more too as it's about 5 years younger, but that's the gist. One main attribute is what the video technology spills into the stills ability. Along with taking bursts of pictures, to capture moments, if has another option where you can hold the shutter button, it's buffereing, and when you press the button, it take a series of picture until you release. But it include pictures from 1 second before you pressed. Some when something happens, you are invariably too late. With this you've caught it. and you cheese and save the right picture. I took one of my classes to the park and continually missed the moment. Photographing kids is like photographing sport, you need fast shutter speeds and be ready to catch that moment.

    I've talked myself into this.

Pulled the trigger, pretty excited about it.

So many of the reviews mentioned it's positive and it negatives. Then a 50 minute review discussion between two photographers, showed one had really gone indepth in trying it out. He did mention the same negatives, but was less hyped about them, but his list of positives was much longer. Very flexible camera. Adds so much more to my existing.

Had a look on panosonic's site and they too sell with the cashback scheme of 100 pounds, but Jessops are doing double cashback and a cheaper starting point. gave me faith that the cashback would amount to something. It's a lot of camera for 350 quid.

I currently have 2 prime lenses, this comes with a zoom. I'll probably learn what other focal length I lean towards and help me decide what other Prime lenses I could benefit from. It's inbuilt stabilization will help with video work

I'm rambling on about it. Clearly excited.
