Can I Draw "Shaped" Controller Lines?

Hello,

Ive been trying to get an answer on this for years....  I am hoping somebody either knows the answer or how to accomplish what I want.

OK, so let's say I have a series of 16th note electronic hihats that I wanted panned L-R-L-R for each note consecutively.   It would take forever to draw that in manually.  Is there a way to set a panning controller to alternative L-R-L-R, like I want to?    I also don't want them panned 100% either but maybe 40% left and 40% right.

Secondly, what if my highats are not evenly placed or some 16th notes are missing a high hat.  I want to then SKIP the panning pattern until the next hihat appears.

This seems impossible right now to me.... but I hear stuff like this on the radio all the time so I know it's possible.

Thank you,
Adam

I would have a look at the old interpolate feature (now IIRC Process->find/replace).

You can use that to selectively select data (does that make sense) and then change it as required.

You can use the different modes of the Draw tool to draw in different patterns for envelopes. The pattern follows the snap value.

Kind of a pain. How about two tracks of hihats, or a drum map with two notes sending the same hihat to two destinations?

You could try to draw in the CC panned (eg left) at a grid resolution of 1/8th, copy them, change the grid to 1/16th and paste them one grid line ahead. The pasted events should be selected, so you can change them to the desired alternate pan.

I wouldn't do this with MIDI but its rather easy to do it with the audio output using automated pan. I also recall a plugin that can do this for audio. I can't remember its name though.

Envelope draw. Choosing a triangular wave for the best method.
Alternatively, Audio Damage's Panstation or Soundtoys Panman
