Can I Edit latency out of my recordings?

Since X1 has a lot of editing features including advanced ones, I want to know if it's possible to Edit latency out of the mix. I know that latency is a real time issue, by causing a delay when something is played and then heard. But once it's recorded, can that latency be erased? Perhaps a latency eraser tool?

Er... if EVERYTHING in a certain track is a bit 'late', simply move the clip (left) until it's not late anymore...?

Or for a changing latency (which shouldn't really happen), use Audiosnap!

The latency is due to the time required for the various processors (a/d, CPU, d/a) to do all their number crunching.  The more complex the number crunching (convolution reverbs...) the higher the latency.

    But..

Sonar knows exatly how much latency is being used at any one time and adjusts the timing of material being recorded as required.  So as you're playing back the drum track and recording your guitar, Sonar will make sure your guitar recording is correctly timed with the drums.

It won't, however, make you play in time...  That is what audio snap does.

You should not need to edit anything due to latency.

    The big question is :

Is the latency in the tracks themselves or in the processing and the sound card?

    What soundcard are you using?

If the tracks are out of line... How did they get that way? If they are.... simply drag them into line. If the tracks are all lined up, mute the midi tracks & synths..... are they the cause? If so.... it's drivers and sound card problems.

Well, in the case of audio that is why ASIO drivers came out, to account for latency and not have it happen in the first place. Latency is inherent in electronics no matter what is done, so it has to be accounted for and ASIO drivers do that.

I know I've had issue's with the lower frequency's from my bass lagging behind in playback, which I normally fix with the "nudge" feature.

I tried editing the latency out of my tracks? But it took too long.

    Do you have latent tendencies?

All you need is love, just ask the Beatles?
