Can I install Molodyne Editor and keep Essential available in X3

I have taken the step of downloading Melodyne Editor, as there is a special offer on registration. I am already asking a lot of my laptop, but purchased because I will be buying a new laptop, when I finally see a suitable one available.  As essential will cover most of my basic needs for now, I would like to keep using that to save on resource demands. If I upgrade, do I get the option in Sonar choose Editor or Essential when creating a region effect, or will it just show Editor.

Or am I worrying about nothing, because the resource demands difference is negligible and more dependent on  what I am processing, than what I am processing with.

Hi Scoot . . . Melodyne Editor can do so much more than the Essential version, but you have answered that part of your question . . . if you use the polyphonic feature, and higher end editing features that Essential is not capable of, you will surely use more resources on your laptop.

Once you have upgraded to Editor version there is no choice to select the Essential version in Sonar region FX area, only Editor version will be available.

Cool, thank you. Mainly using for correcting my awful intonation/timing of my flute playing, and I suspect, the awful intonation of my alto flute. very happy with the initial results.

Guess I'll get on and upgrade it.

    Thanks for answering.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) . . . Melodyne Essential that comes with Sonar 3 just tantalizes the possibilities, and shows how good the Celemony Melodyne product really is, such that you really keep thinking "upgrade" . . . upgradeupgrade.  If you have the cash, it's a great choice to do the upgrade.

Since both versions are essentially (ha!) the same and only the serial unlocks the different features, I would guesstimate the resource difference is non existent as long as you don't use the extra features.

Editor rocks.... used in it's melodic mode I think you'll be just fine on the lappy.

No, they are the same Melodyne Singletrack binary files. How the product is licensed determines the features available. SONAR ships with the license for Essential. The upgrade to Editor only changes the registration information for Melodyne Singletrack unlocking the Editor feature set.

Isn't that what I said and what you asked? I'm confused?

Oh haha, "Scoot", now I noticed! Sorry. I thought it was weird you would ask something like that :)

Ahh ok, so a no brainer then. Cheers

Yeah, when I used last night, I just felt tantalised. Read a thread about the upgrade option, and as I have missed out on these things and regretted later, I just went for it. Very few times in my life can I afford to do this, and one is now, thankfully.  Seeing a Bitflipper comment about being able to edit multiple audio tracks in one screen sold it for me, as I want it to for harmonising different performances. The polyphonic stuff I can deal with later, at the moment I've enough bending my brain, getting to speed with everything in X3.

I wondered how long it would be before Scook and Scoot became confused.

I'm sorry to say but you can't do multiple tracks in one screen with Melodyne Editor. That would probably be the standalone program "Melodyne Studio". You could still manually take the editor screens out of the multidock and try to line them up I suppose.
