Can I sell my unwrapped version os X1?

I find my self in the need for some extra (excuse the pun) cake right now.

I was cleaning out my studio closet on Friday and came across 4 software programs that I would very much like to sell to help with my current plans to upgrade my new DAW. I know that NI will allow you to unregistar a program and then sell it that way so the next person can legally registar it and use it. But I am not sure about X1.

I bought Sonar X1 PE last year when it was released but I have never even unwrapped it. so it is still factory wrapped and never been registered. However cause I did buy it thru the CW Store the serial number is in my name.

Will CW Allow me to sell this unwrapped / unused product to some one else and then allow them to legally register it ?

I plan to put all 4 programs up on eBay and like I've stated before, the funds will help me with my DAW upgrade.

thank you for any help
Clifford

If you haven't registered it, you should be able to sell it, but I'm not sure because you said the serial number is already in your name. You'll have to check with Cakewalk customer service to be sure.

    Good Question.

Native Instruments adds a lot of value to their products by permitting this.

I agree Mike because the other three software programs I wish to sell are NI programs that are already included with Komplete 7 which I have. so the stand alones seem to be kind of redundent to me.

If you bought it under the discount price for being an owner of a previous version of SONAR, you probably wont be able to sell it with Cakewalk's approval. But if you bought it at the 1st time buyer price, I would think you should be able to sell it, if you never registered it.

This is a situation where you should contact Cakewalk to find out.

What happens if you sell it to another owner of a previous version of SONAR?

An upgrade... sold to someone hoping to upgrade seems like it could be considered about even.

    Just thinking out loud.

    Hi Clifford,
You may want to check with NI before putting their stuff for sale as I read quite a few users at the KVR forum complain that NI denied the release of their registrations (some wanted to sell Kontakt they had already purchased (as they also got it after buying Komplete)). It seemed like it was a case-by-case scenario with NI, but (as of recent happenings at NI) there seemed to be more denials than approvals.

    That does it Mesh.

I'll never buy multiple copies of products from NI ever again.

If the Sonar copy was a full un-opened (un-registered) retail copy, I think you could "get away with" selling it.
I say "get away with" as the Cakewalk EULA forbids selling.
Being that the copy is already registered to your account/name, I'd think the answer would be no.
    Still worth calling and inquiring...

Bad news Mr. trucker. I think you'll have trouble giving it away. Good luck buddy.
