Can I use Amplitube X-Gear in X3?

I had X-1 Essential and upgraded to X3. I am enjoying the TH2 Overloud plugin suite, but I was wondering if it was also possible to use the Amplitube X-Gear and if so, how would I migrate it over?

All versions of Sonar can use VST, VSTi, DX and DXi plugin effects. So, yes, you can use it.
If its a VST, and I'm 99.9898% it is,  just install it on your PC to a folder location, like your Soanr X3 vst folder, then open sonar and run the VST scan to that folder location and WHAW LAH!, you can use it

THere's a vpa, a pak, a dll, and an exe. Do I have to move all these? The dll is tiny will that still point to the data that's in those larger files if it's moved?

The EXE is probably a stand-alone? Don't know about vpa and pak but I assume they're presets. Try moving just the dll and see what happens.

I don't think Amplitude makes or supports X-Gear anymore...don't know if it got updated to 64-bit or to accommodate any recent Microsoft shenanigans. Try it and see.

I wouldnt move the DLL, I would just add that directory to the VST scan directory list.

That might be the ticket, because if it needs anything else, it'll be in there too!

Plug-in Manager lets you set scan paths.

Welp, I entered the path, which was tricky because there are many SEEMINGLY duplicate paths, but one is (x86) in program files and one is not. It saw it, but it wanted the dang serial no/activation code. I think it'll let me use it in demo mode, but it was making a loud hiss every few seconds, lasting for a second. I contacted 1K Multimedia but it's the weekend.

Log into you IK account, or better, go through the IK Authorization Manager that should be installed on your computer. If you don't have it, you'll need to download it from IK.
You should have plenty of authorizations left. I still have 8 for X-Gear.
X1 Essential and its plug-ins are 32 bit, so definitely point to the x86 folder.
Is this a new computer? If so you will need a new activation.
If it is the same one you had X1 installed on, you activation code should be...active.

It's a new machine. I'll see if I can log on, that was a long time ago, but I also have an iRig and amplitube on my iPad.

Wow they got back to me and set me up with Amplitube Custom Shop, it has about the same features, maybe a few more than the X-Gear had, and of course they want you to buy stuff to add on, much like the neighborhood pusher from days of yore! I'll compare it to the TH2 Overloud, which I'm pretty dang happy with. The Amplitube is set up more like a guitar rig with FX, but the reverb VST's that come with SONAR are great, and the reverb that came with the Focusrite is really nice and easy to use. KUDOS to the 1K Multimedia staff for being so attentive, and I have 10 activations. Wonder if they'll let me put it on my Mac w/garage band that's in my office?
