Can Pro Channel Crash?

This is not a slag against the PC, I'm serious.

I'm wondering if PC can crash within X1 and leave X1 running. This is based on some observations and reading lots about the issues people have with PC. I realize that it may be impossible to answer.

Like many, I've had my share of random PC problems that seem to have no assignable cause. Usually a shut down and reboot fixes them. The other day I was messing about in PC and the stock compressor stopped responding. It would turn on/off but not do any signal processing. I swapped to the other stock compressor and it would not respond. The problem quickly spread to the PC EQ. I tried the master on/off for the PC but no joy. I realized that nothing in the PC was working at all. THe EQ plots were still adjustable as were the controls on all the modules. THe interface layer was responding but no actual signal processing was happening.

It struck me that the next thing I was waiting for was a pop up saying the PC has stopped responing, would you like to terminate it or wait? It behaved like a stand alone program that was having some type of cascade failure. I'm not savvy with this programming stuff but if the PC is a program running inside the X1 shell it would would explain my infrequent, but very real, phantom PC glitches.

What do you think?

Regards, John

i think it can certainly get into a bit of a state, if not full on crashola - if something goes wrong (e.g., on/off without processing), then it will stay wrong, and possibly cause further wrongs, until you restart sonar... ymmv

Not sure but I have had some issues with switching plugins around quickly and I don't think my computer could keep up.  Problem is I can't reproduce the issue.
